Pilots Of The Purple Twilight - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the first performance of their latest production "Pilots Of The Purple Twilight" at the Nanango Theatre Company Playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets in Nanango at 1:30pm this afternoon. The NTC have been rehearsing this 1989 Steve Kluger play for almost six months and it promises to be quite a show! Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for concessions if you buy them at the door, but Early Bird tickets are available for $15 and $10 respectivelty if you pay for them at least 7 days beforehand. These tickets can be obtained from the South Burnett Energy and Tourist infomation Centre in Henry Street, Nanango or by phoning (07) 4171-0100 or (07) 4189-9446. Note: There'll be three more performances at 7:30pm in the evening on November 9th, 10th and 16th before the season concludes with a Wine & Cheese Night on November 17th. Dance - Tablelands Hall
A dance (and dance lessons, if you need them) will be held at Tablelands Hall from 7:30pm until late tonight. The dance will feature old time and new vogue numbers and admission includes a sausage sizzle and supper. Entry is $10 for adults, $5 for high school students and $2.50 for anyone else and everyone is welcome. More details? Phone Joan on (07) 4168-6116.
South Burnett Thrashers 20th Birthday Celebration
The South Burnett Thrashers rugby union club will be holding a special celebration dinner at the Booie Bello Vista restaurant at the corner of Haydens and Schellback's Roads in Booie at 6:30pm tonight to celebrate the team's 20th birthday. Apart from an $80 per head two-course dinner accompanied by beer, wine and soft drinks, tonight's get-together will also feature the club's 2012 presentations, memorabilia auctions, special guests and several surprises! Thrashers members, supporters and their friends are all very welcome, but tickets need to have been booked by October 26th. Kilkivan Kindy Market Day Fundraiser
The Kilkivan Kindy will be holding a Market Day at the Kilkivan Town Hall in Bligh Street, Kilkivan from 10:00am to 2:00pm today as a fundraiser. The event will feature lots of Party Plan exhibitors, market stalls and car boot sales and entry is a modest gold coin donation (which includes free tea and coffee). There'll also be great home-made morning teas available too. And if you'd like to get a stall yourself, stall fees are just $15. More details? Stall bookings? Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
The Nimue Art Gallery in King Street, Kingaroy (just next to the Carrollee Hotel) will be opening their new exhibition "Six Is A Magic Mix" at 2:00pm this afternoon. The exhibition will feature new works by well-known South Burnett artists Diana Bolton, Carmel Nott, Dianne Woodall and Karol Oakley, along with pottery from zany local potters Margariet Laughton and Fay Stumm. Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and routinely attract 320 to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Dance - Inverlaw Hall
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by a local band and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a big Lucky Door draw. South Burnett Speedway - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Speedway Club will be roaring into life this afternoon and evening with their second outing of the 2012-13 season. Tonight's feature race will be Round 2 of the Wild Desert Allstars Series, with 49 modified production cars battling it out on the track for line honours. But there'll also be thrilling white-knuckle clashes between Super Sedans, Production Sedans and Wingless Sprints, as well as a fun appearance by Roly Poly Stunt Cars that should be something else again. Gates will open at 2:00pm and the first pedals will slam into the metal at 4:30pm. Admission is $25 for adults; $15 for pensioners and students; or $65 for a family pass (2 adults and up to 3 students) - but under-12s can get in for free. Everyone is welcome! Saturday Cricket
The third round of the South Burnett's 2012-13 cricket season will be played at a variety of locations around the region today. In A-grade, the Nanango Scorpions will play Kingaroy RSL at the Nanango Sportsgrounds in Burnett Street, Nanango, while the Wooroolin Warriors will play the Murgon Crusaders at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy. And in B-grade, the Kumbia Rattlers will play the Murgon Diggers at the Kumbia Sportsground; Kingaroy RSL will play Barambah at the Taabinga Stsate School in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy; the Wondai Wolves will play the Wooroolin Warriors at the Wondai Sportsgrounds off the Bunya Highway in Wondai; and Murgon Magic will play the Murgon Colts at the Murgon Sportsgrounds. Spectators and supporters are very welcome!
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowling Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Proston Rally - Proston
The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding their quarterly CAMS Khanacross Multiclub Rally at their racing track this weekend. The Club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston on the Proston-Boondooma Road, and racing will commence around 10:30am this morning and conclude at around 2:30pm tomorrow. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings and spectators are very welcome. There'll be a BBQ and soft drinks stand running throughout the event, as well as a breakfast early on Sunday morning for campers. There'll also be a licensed bar operating at set times too. Hot showers, toilets and free camping are available on site. Admission to the Rally is free for spectators, $40 for adult participanrs and $25 for juniors. More details? Saturday Golf - Blackbutt, Nanango and Kingaroy
Three golfing events will be held around the region today in Blackbutt, Nanango and Kingaroy. In Blackbutt, the Fitzroy Hotel Monthly Mug will be played out at the Blackbutt Golf Club in Bowmans Road - (07) 4163-0180. In Nanango, the Nanango Golf Club on the D'Aguilar Highway north of the CBD will be hosting a 3-person abrose - (07) 4163-1463. And in Kingaroy, the Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway south-west of town will be holding its Dawson Mug stroke/putts competition - (07) 4162-1720. New players are very welcome at any of these events.
Smooth & Groove - Kingaroy

What's On At The Wineries This Weekend
The South Burnett's wineries and cellar doors will all be open this weekend if you want to relax in their cafes and/or taste their wines. The South Burnett is now the largest wine region in Queensland and (excluding the Granite Belt) larger than all the State's other wine regions put together. Murgon Music Muster
The third (and main) day of the four-day Murgon Music Muster will be running at the PCYC complex at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon from 7:30am this morning until very late this evening. The Muster is being organised by the Murgon Rotary Club and today it will feature a wide range of invited country and bush balladeer artists. Admission today is $25, and tickets will be available at the door. Overnight camping is available in the grounds for between $5 and $7.50, and there'll also be catering on-site.
