SES Truck Load Of Thanks Tour - Kingaroy
- This week is 2012 SES Week, and the South Burnett's SES groups will be marking it with a "Truck Load Of Thanks" tour of the region's major towns. Today the Tour will continue at the Glendon Street Forecourt in Glendon Street, Kingaroy between 7:30am and 9:30am with a free community sausage sizzle, a talk by SBRC Mayor Wayne Kratzmann, and free Disaster Ready kits for everyone who comes along. Crow-FM 90.7's popular Breakfast Show will also be broadcasting live on site, and everyone is welcome! Today has also been designated nationally as "Wear Orange Wednesday", so if you'd like to show your support for the South Burnett's SES men and women, just wear something orange (socks, tie, scarf etc) to show it. Note: Similar Tour pit-stops will be held at Nanango and Blackbutt tomorrow and on Friday.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with $800 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Nanango Probus Club Meeting
- The Nanango Probus Club will be holding its regular monthly meeting at the QCWA Rooms in Fitzroy Street, Nanango (opposite Foodworks) from 9:30am onwards this morning. The club meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month and meetings usually feature guest speakers talking on a variety of topics, as well as a great morning tea and chats. Timbertown Woodworkers Group Meeting - Blackbutt
- The Timbertown Woodworkers Group will be holding their regular Wednesday meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:00am until around 4:00pm today. Kingaroy Lions Club Dinner Meeting
- The Kingaroy Lions Club will be holding their bi-monthly Dinner Meeting at the Kingaroy Hotel at the corner of Haly and Youngman Streets in Kingaroy (opposite McDonalds) from 6:30pm onwards tonight. The Kingaroy Lions are involved in a very wide range of community activities in Kingaroy and surrounding areas all year round and anyone who's interested in joining a Lions Club (or simply socialising and seeing how Lions operate) is very welcome to come along! Heartmoves Exercise Session - Nanango
- A free Heartmoves exercise session led by South Burnett physiotherapist Louise Kenny will be held at Rapid Fitness at 4 Railway Lane in Nanango between 10:45am and 11:45am this morning. The Heartmoves exercise program is jointly sponsored by the Heart Foundation, Rapid Fitness and the South Burnett Regional Council's Healthy Communities program. It's designed for people who haven't done exercise in awhile, and it lets you exercise at your own pace in a supportive environment. Busy Needles Club Meeting - Nanango
- The Busy Needles Club will be meeting at Nanango's Uniting Church Hall at 114 Drayton Street from 9:30am to 2:00pm today. The club caters for people interested in patchwork, machine embroidery, sewing and knitting and meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Indoor Bowls & Cards Day - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club will be hosting indoor bowls and cards (500) competitions at its centre on the corner of Avoca and Kingaroy Streets, Kingaroy between 9:00am and 4:00pm today. Nanango Country Quilters & Crafts Group Meeting
- The Nanango Country Quilters And Crafts group meet at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango every second Wednesday from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Members can get to pursue a wide variety of crafts at these informal gatherings and the $4 meeting fee includes morning tea (but BYO cup and lunch). There's also usually a raffle as well. Nanango Blue LIght Open Night
- The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding their regular Wednesday Open Night at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango from 4:00pm to 6:00pm this evening. Young people are welcome to come along for skating lessons, homework help (during school term), art and sculpture classes, games and access to the computer room. Entry is $2. More details? Summer Soccer 7s - Kingaroy
- The weekly summer Soccer 7s competition will be held at 6:30pm this evening at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy (ie the Kingaroy soccer grounds). The competition is open to players of all skill levels and abilities, and players who weren't registered for the 2012 season can pay a $25 social registration which will cover them until December 31. There will also be a $50 team nomination fee available, as well as a nightly match fee of $5 each to play. Everyone is welcome! More details? Partial Lunar Eclipse
- A partial lunar eclipse will cover the South Burnett this morning. The eclipse will cover about 80% of the sun and will be at its height at 6:55am. To avoid eye damage, though, you shouldn't look at it directly. The dsafest way to view it is by constructing a pinhole camera, or by using solar glasses (and following the instructions provided with them). Musical Group Meeting - Wondai
- The Wondai Art Gallery music group will be meeting at the Gallery on the roundabout in Wondai at 7:00pm this evening. The group provides free music lessons and the opportunity to jam with other musicians, as is open to everyone who enjoys mjusic and/or would like to learn how play an instrument. More details? Cmmunity Kitchen Meeting - Kingaroy
- If you live in (or near) Kingaroy, are interested in cooking affordable and nutritious meals and would like to get together with a group of like-minded individuals on a regular basis to socialise and cook food, RHealth and the South Burnett Regional Council will be holding their monthly Kingaroy Community Kitchen meeting at St Mary's Church Hall at the corner of Albert and Mary Streets from 10:00am and 12:00 noon today. Community Kitchens are owned and driven by participants, who make all the decisions about running the group; how often it meets and what will be cooked. In general, your only cost will be to pay for your share of the ingredients used in any cook-up - but to kick the kitchen off, the SBRC will supply the funding for the first 10 cooking sessions. Alcoholics Anonymous - Wondai
- Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experiences, strengths and hopes with each other to help solve their common problems and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership, and AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution.
