South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Art Gallery Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their next-to-last monthly exhibition for 2012 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm this evening. Tonight's exhibition will feature artworks by award-winning Sunshine Coast artist June McCotter and her friends Sarah Lawson, Patti Henderson and Lyla McLaren. The works on show will cover a wide range of media - anything from oils and acrylics through to charcoal and macrame - and the children of the artists will be mounting their own show in Kidz Korner. Tonight's opening will also feature great finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Captains Paddock Vineyard and live music. Admission is $5 and everyone is very welcome to attend! Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Kingaroy Community Garden Meeting
The South Burnett Regional Council's Healthy Communities Initiative are re-establishing a Kingaroy Community Garden group around the Pound Street Community Garden - and today they'll be holding a Working Bee & Meeting at the garden between 10:00am and 12:00 noon this morning. Anyone who'd like to get involved in this project is very welcome to come along (BYO chair, sun protection, water bottle, gardening gloves and closed-toe shoes). Nanango Writers Association Meeting
The Nanango Writers Association will be meeting at the Nanango Theatre at the corner of George and Elk Streets, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. Karaoke Night - Wondai
The South Burnett Lively 50s & 60s Singles Social Group will be holding a Karaoke Night at the Warana Hotel at 42 Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:30pm until late this evening. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 10 Kingaroy Street in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Nanango Junior Blue Light Skating
The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding a Junior Blue Light Skating Night for young people aged up to 12 years at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango between 6:00pm and 9:00pm this evening. 1812 to 2012: 200 Years of Popular Music - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy State High School Instrumental Music Program's end of year concert "1812 to 2012: 200 Years of Popular Music" will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until around 9:00pm this evening. The concert will feature music from Tchaikovsky, Puccini, Louis Prima, Neil Diamond, John Lee Hooker, Blink 182 & Black Eyed Peas (to name a few) and a canteen and bar will be operating as well. Tickets are $5 for adults and high school students, but primary school students and young ones can get in for free. They'll be available at the door tonight.
Arthur Nettelfield - Kingaroy
Popular South Burnett country-rock entertainer Arthur Nettelfield will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:30pm until late tonight. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1755
Murgon Music Muster
The second day of the four-day Murgon Music Muster will be running at the PCYC complex at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon from 7:30am this morning until very late this evening. The Muster is being organised by the Murgon Rotary Club and today - and over the next two days - it will feature a wide range of country and bush balladeering talents. Today's performances will feature invited and walk-up artists, and admission is $15. Overnight camping is available in the grounds for between $5 and $7.50, and there'll also be catering on-site.
