SES Truck Load Of Thanks Tour - Blackbutt
This week is 2012 SES Week, and the South Burnett's SES groups will be marking it with a "Truck Load Of Thanks" tour of the region's major towns. Today the Tour will conclude at Les Muller Park in Hart Street, Blackbutt between 7:30am and 9:30am with a free community sausage sizzle, a talk by a special guest speaker from Emergency Management Queensland about disaster safety, and free Disaster Ready kits for everyone who comes along. Crow-FM 90.7's popular Breakfast Show will also be broadcasting live on site, and everyone is welcome!
Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Pilots Of The Purple Twilight - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the next-to-last performance of their latest production "Pilots Of The Purple Twilight" at the Nanango Theatre Company Playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets in Nanango at 7:30pm this evening. The NTC have been rehearsing this 1989 Steve Kluger play for almost six months and it promises to be quite a show! Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for concessions if you buy them at the door, but Early Bird tickets are available for $15 and $10 respectivelty if you pay for them at least 7 days beforehand. These tickets can be obtained from the South Burnett Energy and Tourist infomation Centre in Henry Street, Nanango or by phoning (07) 4171-0100 or (07) 4189-9446. Note: There'll be one final performance at 7:30pm tomorrow night. This will be a special Wine & Cheese Night and tickets to it are $25 per head (with no early bird discounts or concessions). Endeavour Foundation Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be holding bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning. More than $1,000 in jackpots will be on offer. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 10 Kingaroy Street in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Nanango QCWA Meeting
The Nanango branch of the QCWA will be holding their regular third Friday of the month meeting at the Nanango QCWA Rooms in Fitzroy Street, Nanango at 10:00am this morning. New members are very welcome.
Karaoke Night - Wondai
The South Burnett Lively 50s & 60s Singles Social Group will be holding a Karaoke Night at the Warana Hotel at 42 Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:30pm until late this evening. Nanango Senior Blue Light Skating
The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding a Senior Blue Light Skating Night for young people aged 13 to 17 years at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango between 6:00pm and 9:00pm this evening. Blue Light Disco - Murgon
A Murgon Blue Light Disco for primary school age children will be held at the Diggers Room in the Murgon Services Club in Lamb Street, Murgon between 6:30pm and 8:30pm this evening. The $4 admission fee includes a hot dog dinner and there'll be some great prizes to be won as well. Blue Light discos are drug, alcohol and tobacco free and are fully supervised by local police, Apexians, Lions and other volunteers. Nanango Writers Association Meeting
The Nanango Writers Association will be meeting at the Nanango Theatre at the corner of George and Elk Streets, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. Popular local band Stunt Pig will be performing at the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets in Kingaroy from 8:00pm until late tonight.
