Nanango Country Markets
- The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and routinely attract 320 to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Bowling Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Wondai Show Society Annual BBQ
- The Wondai AP&I Society will be holding their annual BBQ at the Wondai Showgrounds in Baynes Street, Wondai at 4:30pm this afternoon. The BBQ is a relaxed, informal get-together for Show Society members and supporters of all the good things they do, and everyone is welcome - but to help with catering, an RSVP to Liz on (0427) 211-992 would be greatly appreciated. PS: Today's BBQ is free, but if you'd like to join the Wondai AP&I Society you can do so today for just $8. Apart from everything else, being a Member will get you free admission to the annual Wondai Show on the 30th and 31st August this year.
Mayor's 2013 Flood Appeal Stall
- A stall to collect donations for the Mayor's 2013 Flood Appeal will be operating at Kingaroy Shoppingworld all this week. The Appeal is a fundraiser for South Burnett flood victims and is being run in conjunction with the Red Earth Community Foundation, a South Burnett charitable foundation. Alternately - if you'd like to contribute but won't be going to Shoppingworld this week - you can donate to the Flood Appeal by phoning (07) 4189-9100; over the counter at any SBRC customer service centre; by downloading and returning this donation form; or online through the FRRR's website (make sure you select "South Burnett Red Earth Assistance Fund" from the "FRRR hosted donation accounts" drop-down). The Dynamics - Kingaroy
- The Dynamics (aka The Warren Thomas Duo) will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:30pm to 11:30pm this evening. Admission is free. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
Dance - Inverlaw Hall
- A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by The Commodores and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a big Lucky Door draw. Admission fees are $12.00 for adults, $4.00 for high school students and everyone is welcome! More details? Phone David on (0459) 228-882.
Saturday Cricket
- South Burnett cricketers will be playing the latest rounds of this year's 2012-13 cricket season at a variety of locations around the region today. With the end of the season approaching, a lot hangs on today's games so there should be some good cricket on offer. In A-grade, Kingaroy RSL will play the Kingaroy Warriors in a major semi-final at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy, while the Nanango Scorpions will play Murgon Crusaders in an elimination semi-final at the Murgon Sportsgrounds. And in B-grade, the Wondai Wolves will play the Murgon Diggers in an elimination semi-final at the Wondai Sportsgrounds; while Murgon Magic will contest the Plate final with the Murgon Colts at Murgon Sportsgrounds. All matches are one day games and get underway at 12:00 noon. Spectators and supporters are very welcome!

Wondai Hotel Grand Re-Opening
- The Wondai Hotel in Haly Street, Wondai will be re-opening today after several months of refurbishment work by new owners Michael and Jessica Beohm, who hope to ultimately transform the historic 110-year old building into a B&B, restaurant and cellar door. While the couple still have several months of work still to do, today's re-opening will allow anyone interested in this unusual project to come take a look at progress to date. More details will be published as they become available.
Dance - Tablelands Hall
- A dance (and dance lessons, if you need them) will be held at Tablelands Hall from 7:30pm until late tonight. The dance will feature old time and new vogue numbers and admission includes a sausage sizzle and supper. Entry is $10 for adults, $5 for high school students and $2.50 for anyone else. Learn How To Play Bridge - Kingaroy
- The fifth week of a 6-week course in How To Play Bridge will be held at Kingaroy's Artie Kerr Centre (the Department of Transport building) in Kingaroy Street from 9:30am to 11:30am this morning.
