Mayor's 2013 Flood Appeal Radiothon
- CROW-FM 90.7 will be holding a radiothon from 8:00am onwards today to raise money for the Mayor's 2013 Flood Appeal. Corky and the crew will be accepting on-air pledges all day. The radiothon is a fundraiser for South Burnett flood victims and is being run in conjunction with the Red Earth Community Foundation, a South Burnett charitable foundation. Alternately - if you'd like to contribute but can't pick up CROW-FM because of your location - you can donate to the Flood Appeal by phoning (07) 4189-9100; over the counter at any SBRC customer service centre; by downloading and returning this donation form; or online through the FRRR's website (make sure you select "South Burnett Red Earth Assistance Fund" from the "FRRR hosted donation accounts" drop-down). All donations are tax-deductible. Bunya Mountains Bushwalk
- The South Burnett Bushwalking Club will be holding a bushwalk in the 105-year-old Bunya Mountains National Park today. This is the first day walk for the club this year and follows a successful selection of overnight hut walks in New Zealand in February. All club members and anyone interested in bushwalking, cycling, kayaking and similar things is very welcome to come along and join in! The group will be meeting at the Dandabah picnic area in the heart of the Mountains at 9:00am for an easy on-track walk. You should bring along a picnic lunch, camera, day pack with minimum 1 litre of water and any personal requirements you'd need for the walk. A group picnic lunch will follow at Dandabah on return. Murgon CBD Markets
- The monthly Murgon Markets will be held in Lamb Street in the heart of Murgon from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets offer locally-made crafts, foods and produce and are always an interesting Sunday morning out. New stall-holders are always welcome too! More details? 13th Annual Maidenwell Folk Gathering
- The third (and final) day of the 13th annual Maidenwell Folk Gathering will get underway around 10:00am this morning at the Maidenwell Hotel and continue right through until late this afternoon. The Folk Gathering is a pure folk music event (ie fully acoustic - no electrics are allowed) and has built up a very loyal following over the years. A highlight of today's Festival activities will be an open-air jam session at Coomba Falls. The Festival itself is completely free to attend and there's also free camping available around the hotel. Lots of great food will be available too but no BYO is allowed - you'll need to get your reasonably priced supplies from the Maidenwell Hotel if you want to party hard really hard. More details? Chillin' Away Again In Margaritaville - Booie
- POSTPONED: If you're looking for a great way to compensate for not having a Wine & Food In The Park Festival this year, get along to Cranes Winery at 162 Haydens Road in Booie. They'll be holding "Chillin' Away Again In Margaritaville" from 11:00am to around 4:00pm - a relaxing afternoon of live music, fantastic views across the Booie Range, Crane's own special Margaritas, gourmet burgers with home-made condiments and all the wine and soft drinks you might need. There's no admission (but no BYO alcohol or food either) - just bring your own blanket and hat or umbrella and pay as you go. Open Mic Day - Nanango
- POSTPONED: Seascape Studios at 52 Arthur Street in Nanango will be hosting an Open Mic Day at their premises from 11:00am to 10:00pm today. Seascape will be supplying a stage and PA set-up, and all guests need to bring are their musical instruments, BBQ food, chairs and whatever they want to drink. Everyone is welcome - it's a family and child-friendly venue - and camping is available on-site if you want to sleep over.
