South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wondai Community Meet & Greet
The Wondai Chamber of Commerce and local councillors Cheryl Dalton and Kathy Duff will be holding a "Community Meet & Greet" for new Wondai and district residents at Coronation Park in Mackenzie Street from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm this afternoon. The event is designed to welcome new residents to the area as well as introduce local community groups, sporting groups and businesses. The Chamber's new 2013 Wondai Business Directory will also be launched at today's get-together, and there'll be a gold coin donation sausage sizzle (along with a bar and live music) with all proceeds going to the Mayor's Red Earth Flood Appeal. Attendees will also be able to inspect design drawings for Wondai's new Village Green, which will see the town's CBD redeveloped into a whole new look by September, and discuss them with Crs Duff and Dalton. Sunday Markets - Kilkivan
The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 11:00am this morning. The markets feature an array of locally produced fruit, vegetables and merchandise and new stallholders are always welcome! More details? Phone Dulcie on (07) 5484-1032
Hand Made Expo Markets - Kingaroy
The Ipswich-based Hand Made Expo Markets will be running at the Glendon Street Forecourt in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am to 2:00pm today. The markets feature food, clothing, artworks, crafts, jewellery and knick-knacks that are all hand-made. Local stallholders are very welcome to take part too. More details? Timbertown Woodworkers Group Meeting - Blackbutt
The Timbertown Woodworkers Group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:00am until around 12:00pm today. St Patricks Day Concert - Kumbia
A St Patricks Day Concert will be held at the Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia at 2:00pm this afternoon in honour of Ireland's patron saint (doors open at 1:30pm). The concert will feature entertainment by local artists and will be followed by a delicious afternoon tea. There'll also be raffles, novelties and an Irish hat competition (so wear your best Irish hat). Admission is just $10 for adults and $5 for students. More details? Taromeo Country Music Club Social - Blackbutt
The Taromeo Country Music Club will be holding their latest bi-monthly Sunday social for 2013 at the Blackbutt Community Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt from 10:30am to around 4:00pm today. Entertainment will be provided by the very talented Taromeo Country Music Club and guest artists from the Pumicestone Country Music Club. There'll also be multi-draw raffles, a lucky door prize, a licensed bar, plenty of food and refreshments and - of course! - lots of great country music and dancing. St Patricks Day Lunch With Tom McCahon - Booie
The Booie Bello Vista Restaurant at the corner of Haydens and Schellbachs Road in Booie will be holding a special St. Patricks Day Lunch with Brisbane tenor Tom McCahon at 12:00 noon today. Wondai Show Society Annual BBQ
The Wondai AP&I Society will be holding their annual BBQ at the Wondai Showgrounds in Baynes Street, Wondai at 5:00pm this afternoon. The BBQ is a relaxed, informal get-together for Show Society members and supporters of all the good things they do, and everyone is welcome - but to help with catering, an RSVP to Liz on (0427) 211-992 would be greatly appreciated. PS: Today's BBQ is free, but if you'd like to join the Wondai AP&I Society you can do so today for just $8. Apart from everything else, being a Member will get you free admission to the annual Wondai Show on the 30th and 31st August this year. PPS: This event was originally scheduled for March 2 but had to be abandoned because the heavens opened up and gave Wondai (and the rest of the South Burnett) its third flood this year. Hopefully today will be flood-free.
