South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Nanango Stamp Fair
The Nanango Stamp Club will be holding their annual Stamp Fair from 9:00am to 3:00pm today at the Nanango State High School Hall in Elk Street, Nanango. The event will feature a philatelic auction, a cent auction, a bargain table and a very busy canteen. There'll also be lots of great displays to delight any true philatelist's heart; four professional stamp dealers and 11 stamp clubs in attendance. Admission is completely free and refreshments will be available on-site too. Everyone's welcome to come along and get stuck in! PS: This is a very popular event that draws collectors from all over south-east Queensland.
Nanango Men's Shed
The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango will be open from 8:30am to around 12:30pm today for its regular Monday get-together. The Men's Shed meets most Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome! More details? Phone 0491-102-087
Saturday Cricket
South Burnett junior cricketers will be in action from 8:00am today. In Stage 1, Kingaroy will play Nanango Scorpions at the River Road Oval. In Stage 2, Tingoora Vikings face Kingaroy JCA Cobras at Tingoora Sportsground; and Kingaroy v Nanango Scorpions at Taabinga State School. In Stage 3, Kingaroy will take on Nanango Scorpions at Lyle Vidler Oval. Round 12 games of the local Senior competition will also be played today. Tingoora Vikings will face Nanango Scorpions at Tingoora Sportsground, Wooroolin Warriors v Kingaroy Services Blue at Kingaroy State School, Wondai Wolves v Tingoora Huntsmen at Wondai Cricket Ground and Murgon Diggers v Kingaroy Services Orange at Murgon Showgrounds. All senior matches start at 12:30pm and spectators are very welcome.
Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? First Birthday - Proston
Emma's Coffee Shop in Blake Street, Proston (formerly the Jacaranda Tea Rooms) will be celebrating its first birthday from 8:00am to 1:00pm today with special birthday food and coffee deals for customers. Everyone is welcome!
South Burnett Soccer Sevens - Kingaroy
The annual South Burnett Soccer Sevens will be held at the Kingaroy Soccer Grounds in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy all this weekend. This giant pre-season carnival - run by the Kingaroy Senior Soccer Club - attracts teams from all over south-east Queensland and is one of the region's major annual sporting events. This year organisers expect there'll be upwards of 400 players competing in wens, womens and Over 35s teams for prize monies and locals are also very welcome to form a team and join in! Today's games will get underway at around 9:40am and will run to about 6:00pm. Admission to the Soccer Sevens is 100% free for spectators and there'll be a licensed bar, BBQ and canteen operating at the grounds, too. The carnival will conclude with finals matches tomorrow.
Jonathan Mark Hayden - Linville
Sunshine Coast entertainer Jonathan Mark Hayden will be performning at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm until 8:00pm this afternoon and evening. The hotel's kitchen will also be open for lunch, dinner and snacks and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the pub if you want to stay overnight. More details? MyPlace Meeting - Nanango
The Blackbutt-Yarraman MyPlace group will be holding a meeting at Pop's Cafe at 77 Drayton Street, Nanango from 12:30pm to 2:30pm today to assess interest in forming a Nanango MyPlace group. Guest speaker and organiser Craig M. from Gympie MyPlace will be a special guest speaker and he'll be discussing how the Gympie group was formed and what it's accomplished. There's no charge to attend today's meeting and everyone is welcome.
Gordon Tallis - Proston
Rugby league legend Gordon Tallis will be visiting Proston tonight for a chat about his life as a professional footballer and to raise attention about men's mental health issues. Gordon is being brought to the region with assistance from the South Burnett Regional Council and the Federal Government, and he'll be appearing at the Proston Men's Shed at 5-23 Rodney Street from 6:00pm to 8:00pm tonight. A free BBQ and a cash bar will also be operating and tickets - which include a free drink on arrival - are just $10 per head. Everyone is welcome!
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers from 7:00am to 1:00pm today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Come & Try Day - Nanango
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be running a Come & Try Day for potential new members at their grounds in Racecourse Road, Nanango from 8:00am this morning. This one-day event will offer a full range of activities and this will be the club's first major event for 2024. Admission is free for spectators and a canteen will be operating on site. Powered camping spots are also available for participants (if you're quick). Everyone is welcome!
Pig On A Spit Night - Wooroolin
The Grand Hotel on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin will be holding their final monthly Pig On A Spit Night for 2023 from 5:30pm until late this evening. Apart from a great roast pork meal there'll also be a Lucky Door prize, raffles and live karaoke entertainment. Tickets are $32.50 for adults, $21 for pensioners and $16 for primary school children and everyone is welcome. However, to help plan the catering a booking is necessary. The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. The Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Railway Parkrun - Proston
The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Parkrun - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail at Blackbutt from 7:00am this morning. The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online (it's officially called the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail parkrun) and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Uncle Salty - Kingaroy

Publican's Run & Open Mic Arvo - Wondai
The Cecil Hotel will be holding their monthly Publican's Run for motorcyclists this morning. Participants should assemble with their motorcycles outside the hotel in Mackenzie Street at 10:00am. After this, they'll be taken on a 2 hour mystery (with one or two pit stops) before returning to the Cecil for lunch. There's no fee to take part in the Run and lunch is optional as well. But from 2:00pm, the hotel will also be hosting an informal Open Mic session for any musicians and/or singers who'd like to join in. Everyone is welcome! More details? Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
