South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Nanango Valentines Race Meeting
The Nanango Race Club will be holding its annual Valentine's Day Race Meeting at Lee Park off the D'Aguilar Highway in Nanango today. Gates will open at 10:00am and the first race will leave the barriers around 1:30pm. Today's card will feature five races and the Fashions of the Field competition will have a "Pretty In Pink" theme, where everyone is encouraged to dress up in pink for some great prizes. A licensed bar and BBQ will be operating and the race club canteen will be open for sit-down dining. As usual, a bookies' ring and TAB will also be operating, and free buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy's Glendon Street Bus Depot (12:00 noon) and Nanango's Scott Car Park at 12:30pm. Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Proston Men's Shed

Dance - Inverlaw Hall
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by Mystique and there'll be the usual supper and novelty dances, along with a Lucky Door draw and a raffle. The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango will be open from 8:30am to around 12:30pm today for its regular Monday get-together. Yellowbelly Fishing Competition - Lake Boondooma
The 33rd annual Boondooma Dam Yellowbelly Fishing Competition will be held at Boondooma Dam near Proston all this weekend, commencing at 5:00am today and concluding around lunchtime tomorrow. The event - organised by the Boondooma Dam Fish Stocking Association - will have adult and junior sections and numerous cash prizes for each weigh-in period. A licensed bar, BBQ and food and drink stalls will be operating for the duration and accommodation for competitors is available at the adjoining Lake Boondooma Tourist Park. Competition entry fees are $20 for adults and $5 for children and all competitors will need to have a Stocked Impoundment Permit to take part. In 2020 close to 1000 keen anglers wet their lines for a share of the $50,000 in prizes on offer and large numbers of campers packed the dam's camping grounds. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets are held on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Saturday each month and they feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls. Yarraman Men's Shed

The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Parkrun - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail at Blackbutt from 7:00am this morning. The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online (it's officially called the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail parkrun) and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Saturday Cricket
South Burnett junior cricketers will be in action from 8:00am today. In Stage 1, Kingaroy will play Nanango Scorpions at the Alan Downie Sportsfields, Nanango. In Stage 2, Tingoora Vikings face Kingaroy Kookaburras at Kingaroy State School, and Nanango Scorpions will play Kingaroy Cobras at the Alan Downie Sportsfields, Nanango. And in Stage 3, Kingaroy will take on Nanango Scorpions at the Alan Downie Sportsfields. After this, Round 13 of the senior cricket competition will kick off at 12:30pm, with Tingoora Huntsmen playing Murgon Diggers at Tingoora Sportsground; Kingaroy Services Blue playing Tingoora Vikings at Taabinga State School; Wondai Wolves playing Nanango Scorpions at Wondai Cricket Ground; and Kingaroy Services Orange playing Wooroolin Warriors at Kingaroy State School. Finally, in Round 4,k Day 1 of the Gympie A Grade Two Day Competition, Murgon Crusaders will play the Gympie Harlequins at Murgon Sportsgrounds at 12:30pm, while the Wooroolin Warriors play Gympie Colts at Jack Ison Oval in Gympie. Spectators are very welcome at all games.

Free Caravan Safety Program - Kingaroy
BOOKED OUT: VanSafe Queensland will be running a free caravan safety workshop for caravan owners at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. The workshop will provide information on how to properly pack a caravan to avoid roll-overs and proper towing and parking practices, and it is an initiative of Caravanning Queensland in partnership with the Queensland Government’s StreetSmarts Program. All caravan owners are welcome.
