South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Amanda Gore - Murgon
Graham House Community Centre, the South Burnett Regional Council and the Queensland State Government are bringing world-renowned speaker Amanda Gore (pictured) to the Murgon Town Hall at 7:00pm tonight for a free public workshop open to everyone in the South Burnett. Amanda is a famed motivational speaker and she'll be talking to the topic of "Building Strong, Resilient Communities". The night will involve a workshop where Amanda will explain the core attitudes supporting emotional resiliency. Amanda’s expertise lies in transforming the spirit of people and cultures by changing attitudes, improving relationships, connecting people, managing change, leadership and innovation to assist in the social and human recovery of individuals and communities - especially those affected by the recent floods. Tickets can be obtained in advance from South Burnett Regional Council regional offices, libraries and Visitor Information Centres, local schools, Cherbourg Aboriginal Council, US Mob radio and Graham House Community Centre at 21 Taylor Street East, Murgon. Kingaroy QCWA Twilight Branch Meeting
The fifth meeting of the new Kingaroy QCWA Twilight Branch will be held at the 1913 Council Chambers in Edward Street, Kingaroy (behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre) from 6:00pm to around 7:30pm tonight. The Twilight Branch is a new branch of the QCWA - separate from the Kingaroy branch - for working women and busy mums which meets in the evenings rather than during the day. It's open to all women who'd like to take part in QCWA activities and/or find out more about this well respected community organisation. More details? Morning Tea At The Taabinga Room Restaurant - Kingaroy
Looking for somewhere different for morning tea? Then why not have it at the Taabinga Room Restaurant, which is located at the Kingaroy TAFE College on the corner of the Bunya Highway and Geritz Road, Kingaroy. The Taabinga Room Restaurant is the training restaurant for the Kingaroy TAFE campus where apprentices and school students get to experience the hospitality industry in a supportive training environment. Students run the front and back-of-house operations. set up the restaurant for service, prepare, cook and serve the food and beverages and are assessed on these tasks throughout the day. The food on offer is very good and inexpensive too (eg: morning tea is just $6.50). Today's morning tea is being prepared by TAFE hospitality students and will be served between 10:00am and 12:00 noon. However, bookings are essential. Indoor Bowls & Cards Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club will be hosting indoor bowls and cards (500) competitions at its centre on the corner of Avoca and Kingaroy Streets, Kingaroy between 9:00am and 4:00pm today. Printmaking Workshop - Kingaroy
The Jumping Ant Arts group will be holding a Printmaking Workshop at the 1913 Council Chambers in Edward Street, Kingaroy (immediately behind the Visitor Information Centre) from 8:45am to 3:00pm today. This one-day, $12 workshop will teach students how to produce a single-colour 15cm x 15cm linocut print, so they should bring along a 15cm x 15cm drawing, pencil, eraser, any cutting tools they have, disposable gloves and their own lunch. Nanango Blue Light Open Night
The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding their regular Wednesday Open Night at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Young people are welcome to come along for skating lessons, homework help (during school term), games and access to the computer room. Entry is $2. More details? The Music Explorers group will be meeting at The Studio behind the Wondai Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Wondai from 7:00pm to 9:30pm this evening. Wednesday Wipe-Outs Ten Pin Bowling - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Lively 50s&60s Social Group will be resuming their weekly Wednesday Wipe-Outs 10-Pin Bowling Morning at the Kingaroy Ten Pin Bowling Alley at 4 Irvins Street from 9:15am this morning (bowling starts at 9:30am sharp). The cost is $15.60 for three games plus a $2.00 fee that will be used towards prize monies and trophies which will be handed out out at the end of the season. Alcoholics Anonymous - Wondai
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experiences, strengths and hopes with each other to help solve their common problems and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership, and AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution. The group is open to anyone who acts as a carer. It's designed to provide a social and networking outlet for carers, who often find themselves isolated by their role.
