South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Remembrance Day 2015
Today is Remembrance Day and a number of public services will be held throughout the South Burnett at 11:00am this morning to mark it. Everyone is welcome to attend these services which acknowledge the sacrifices made by our nation's soldiers in all the conflicts Australia has participated in. Today's Remembrance Day services will also mark the 97th anniversary of the Armistice.
Blackbutt:
A service will be held at the Blackbutt Cenotaph on the D'Aguilar Highway at 11:00am
Yarraman:
A service will be held at the Yarraman Cenotaph on the D'Aguilar Highway at 11:00am (wreath-layers should arrive prior to 10:45am). Poppies will be available throughout the week prior to Remembrance Day from the Yarraman RSL Sub Branch stand outside Yarraman IGA. Funds raised will assist the Yarraman Sub Branch to provide current and ex-service personnel and their families with vital advocacy and welfare services.
Nanango:
A service will be held at the Nanango War Memorial from 11:00am this morning (assembly is at 10:45am).
Kingaroy:
A Remembrance Day Commemoration Service will be held at the Memorial Park Cenotaph in Haly Street, Kingaroy this morning, beginning at 10:45am..
Wondai:
A service will be held outside the Wondai Town Hall at 11:00am this morning
Proston:
A service will be held at the Proston State School, beginning at 10:30am
Murgon:
A service will be held at the Murgon War Memorial on the corner of Lamb and Gore Streets between 10:45am and 11:05am
Cherbourg:
A service will be held at the Cherbourg War Memorial at 11:00am
Goomeri:
A service will be held at the Goomeri Memorial Clock in the heart of town at 11:00am (attendees should arrive no later than 10:45am)
Kilkivan:
A flag-raising ceremony will be held at the RSL Memorial Park at 11:00am
Summer Soccer 7s - Kingaroy
The fourth round of Summer Soccer 7s will be played at the Kingaroy Soccer Fields at the end of Oliver Bond Street in Kingaroy from 5:30pm until around 9:00pm tonight. Eighteen teams - 12 social and 6 competitive - will be playing matches on two fields. Spectators are very welcome. The full Summer Soccer 7s match schedule can be found on our website.
Wondai Senior Citizens Club Meeting
The Wondai Senior Citizens Club will be holding their second Wednesday of the month meeting at the Wondai Diggers Club at 87 Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 1:00pm this afternoon. The $2 meeting fee includes afternoon tea, a singalong, card games, bingo and beatles with small prizes, and membership is only $5 a year. The club also organises occasional bus trips. Kumbia QCWA Craft Group
The Kumbia QCWA Craft Group will be holding their regular 2nd Wednesday of the month meeting at the Kumbia QCWA Rooms in Bell Street today, kicking off with morning tea at 9:30am. Women's Basketball - Kingaroy
The women's basketball Grand Final Season 2 game between Green Machine and Blue Steel will be played at the Kingaroy State High School Sports Auditorium at 6:15pm this evening. After the match there'll be presentations and pizza. Spectators are very welcome!
Kingaroy Girl Guides Meeting
The Kingaroy Girl Guides Troop will be meeting at the Guides Hut in Mant Street, Kingaroy this afternoon. U9s will meet from 4:00pm to 5:30pm, and seniors (ages 10-18) from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Nanango Country Quilters & Crafts Group
The Nanango Country Quilters And Crafts group meet every Wednesday at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango between 9:00am to 2:00pm. Members can get to pursue a wide variety of crafts at these informal gatherings and the $4 meeting fee includes morning tea (but BYO cup and lunch). There's also usually a raffle as well. Nanango Swimming Club Night
The Nanango Swimming Club will be holding a Club Night at the Nanango Aquatic Centre in Henry Street, Nanango at 6:00pm this evening. The aim of the evening is to help children improve on their personal best times and have fun, and laughter and cheering are encouraged. Nanango Playgroup Meeting
The Nanango Playgroup will be holding its regular Wednesday meeting at the Nanango Darts Club at the corner of Elk and George Streets between 9:30am and 11:30am this morning. The playgroup is a group of mums, dads, grandparents and caregivers who meet together each week with their children (aged 5 years and under) for interaction and fun. It's a great way for children to learn about the world, make friends and develop social skills. The playgroup also gives the adults a chance to meet and share ideas and experiences. Man Cave - Kingaroy
The Sister Dolores Carroll Training Centre at St Mary's Catholic College at 10 Kent Street in Kingaroy will be transforming into a "Man's Cave" between 6:30pm and 10:00pm tonight. Qualified instructors will be demonstrating the use of all the equipment in the centre - great stuff like lathes, drills etc - and if you're a man interested in restoring or manufacturing wood or metal products and socialising with other men who have similar interests, then this could be the place for you! Indoor Bowls & Cards Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club will be hosting indoor bowls and cards (500) competitions at its centre on the corner of Avoca and Kingaroy Streets, Kingaroy between 9:00am and 4:00pm today. The Art Show features displays of artworks by all students from Prep to Year 9 and nibbles will be served. Tea and coffee will also be available for a gold coin donation, and everyone is welcome!
