South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Greet, Eat & Meet - Yarraman
A "Greet, Meet & Eat" social function will be held at St Philip's Anglican Church Hall in Millar Street, Yarraman from 10:00am until around 1:00pm today. The group was formed in May 2012 to provide a safe place where locals from Yaraman, Blackbutt and Cooyar could get together, enjoy each other's company and meet others in a low-cost way, and it's met on the third Friday of each month ever since (except for December and January). Today's meeting will kick off at 10:00am with a cuppa and will be followed by a three-course lunch at 12:00 noon. Note: Today's get-together is also the group's Christmas break-up. Greet, Eat & Meet will resume on the third Friday in February 2016.
Junior Blue Light Disco - Kingaroy
The sixth (and final) Junior Blue Light Disco for 2015 will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to 8:30pm this evening. Entry to the Junior Disco is restricted to young people aged 14 and below who can produce their student ID, and in addition to a fun night out tonight's disco will also have some great prizes to be won as well, courtesy of sponsors. Admission is $5 and - as usual - attendees are asked to remember that Blue Light Discos are drug, alcohol, chewing gum and tobacco free and no passouts or early exit will be given without parental permission and/or collection. Mr Q - Murgon
Popular South Burnett rock group Mr Q will be performing evergreen rock covers at the Murgon Services Club in Lamb Street, Murgon from 7:00pm until late tonight. Dave, Paul and Tony will start of with a mellow dinner set, then kick it up a notch with popular pub rock songs from 8:30pm. Admission is free. More details from the club on (07) 4168-1819.
Book Launch - Wondai
Hivesville author Graham Braddock will be launching his debut novel "Operation Gravelrash" at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai from 6:00pm to 7:30pm this evening. Tonight's get-together will include free nibbles, wine tastings from Kingsley Grove Estate, and music by Uncle Bob. The launch will be performed by Cr Kathy Duff and signed copies of the book will be available for $25. Note: If you can't make tonight's launch, Graham will also be attending this month's Wondai Markets on Saturday, November 28 between 8:00am and noon. Copies can also be ordered on Graham's website.
Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Friday Night Sax - Wondai
The South Burnett's very own "Sultan Of Sax" Tom McKenzie will be playing at the Wondai Hotel & Cellars in Haly Street, Wondai from 6:00pm until late tonight. Friday Morning Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be running bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning (eyes down at 10:30am). There'll be four jackpots on offer, along with book games and raffles, and proceeds will go to help people with an intellectual disability. Everyone is welcome. More details? Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango
The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:30pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). Coverty Creek Social Club Meeting
The Coverty Creek Community Development and Social Club will be holding its regular Friday night social gathering at the Red Shed at 198 Coverty Road, Coverty from 5:00pm until around 10:00pm tonight. Murgon RC Race Club Meeting
The Murgon RC Club for radio-controlled cars will be holding a meeting at Angelfield Aerodrome at the end of Macalister Street, Murgon this evening (drive w-a-y past the Showgrounds along the dirt road and through the gate marked "Private Property"). Nominations will be taken from 5:30pm and racing will begin around 6:30pm. Short Course Trucks and Buggies will be racing if sufficient numbers are there, otherwise it'll be down to whatever turns up. Spectators are more than welcome to come along for free, but to take part in the racing you'll need to be a PCYC member ($30 per year for an adult or $60 per family - you can join up on site today) and the fee for racing is $10. Country Music Night - Nanango
An informal Country Music Night will be held at the Uniting Church Hall in Gipps Street, Nanango at 7:30pm tonight. The get-together is open to both spectators and performers, and the $2 entry fee includes supper. Everyone is welcome!
Friday Night Poker - Kingaroy
Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy will be hosting Friday night poker games this evening. Registration starts at 6:30pm and the first cards are dealt at 7:00pm. Barefoot Bowls & Dinner - Murgon
The Murgon Bowls Club at 104 Macalister Street in Murgon will be holding twilight barefoot bowls competitions with dinner from 6:00pm tonight (the clubhouse opens at 4:00pm). Murgon State High School's graduating students will be celebrating their annual High School Formal at the Murgon Town Hall off Lamb Street in Murgon at 5:00pm this evening. Members of the public are very welcome to gather outside the Town Hall to view the cars and fashion!
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
