Mayor's Fundraising Luncheon - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt & District Tourism and Heritage Association will be hosting a Mayor's Fundraising Luncheon at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt at 12:00 noon today, with Hugh Lunn and Mal Anderson as special guest speakers. The lunch is a fundraiser for BDHTA's drive to raise $65,000 to build a life-size bronze statue of tennis legend Roy Emerson in the town, and guests will get to enjoy a delicious two course lunch, refreshments on arrival and unlimited tea and coffee. A cash bar will also be operating a dress is smart casual. In addition to the lunch and speakers there'll also be an auction of a limited edition miniature bronze statue of Roy Emerson, along with signed copies of Hugh Lunn's book "The Great Fletch" about the dazzling life of Wimbledon larrikin Ken Fletcher. A prize will be awarded for the best "Roy story", and there'll be lucky door prizes too. Tickets to the lunch are $50 per head and need to be pre-booked to help plan the catering. Vivaldi's 'Gloria' - Nanango
The South Burnett Chorale and the South Burnett Community Orchestra will be presenting a joint performance of the Christmas Light Cantata and Vivaldi's Gloria at the Nanango Community Baptist Church at Mount Stanley Road, Nanango from 6:00pm to around 7:15pm this evening. Tonight's concert is part of both groups' annual Christmas Charity Concert series, and admission is $10 (unmder-12s are free). The proceeds of tonight's concert will be donated to the host's charity of choice - which in this case is the Sandra Jones Orphanage in Zimbabwe. Everyone is welcome! [Note: Three additional performances will also be held at Wondai (22nd), Kingaroy (27th) and Murgon (29th)]
Friendship Markets - Kingaroy
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at the Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around 12:00pm today. The markets feature an array of arts, crafts, fruit and flower stalls and new stallholders are always very welcome! More details? Phone Rita on (07) 4164-4130.
RSPCA Outdoor Movie Night - Kingaroy


The Kingaroy RSPCA will be holding an Outdoor Movie Night in Kingaroy's Memorial Park at 6:00pm this evening as a fundraiser for their animal shelter. The feature movie will be the family comedy "Penguins Of Madagascar" (you can see a trailer above) and there'll be popcorn, chocolate, hot drinks and slushies available to purchase in the grounds - just BYO blanket or chairs to sit on. Tickets are $13 for adults, $7 for children (15yo or younger) or $35 for a family pass (2 adults 2 children). Everyone is welcome! Note: This Movie Night was originally planned for October 10, but the RSPCA cancelled it at the last minute because of a conflict with Relay For Life.
Burnett Tyre Services Open Day - Murgon
Here's one for all true revheads! Burnett Tyre Services at 130 Lamb Street in Murgon will be holding an Opening Day from 8:30am to 3:00pm today with drag racing legend Victor Bray on hand to put on a show. The Opening Day is to celebrate the business coming under new management and everyone is welcome - but since there'll also be a free sausage sizzle on offer, an RSVP would be greatly appreciated to help plan the catering. Too Ezy - Kingaroy
Popular South Burnett musicians Too Ezy will be performing at the Carrollee Hotel in King Street, Kingaroy from 7:30pm until late tonight. Admission is free. More details from the hotel on (07) 4163-6599.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Saturday Afternoon Judo - Murgon
The Murgon Judo Club will be holding its regular Saturday afternoon training session at the Salvation Army Hall in Macalister Street, Murgon today. Rock & Roll Dance - Yarraman
CANCELLED: The Yarraman Progress Association will be holding a Rock & Roll Dance at the Yarraman Memorial Hall in Browne Street, Yarraman from 6:00pm to 10:30pm tonight. Popular Deception Bay duo Just Friends will be providing the music and a licensed bar will be operating from 6:00pm. Tickets - which include a light supper - are $15 for adults, $10 for children aged 7-15 (under 6s are free) or $40 for a family of four (2 adults and 2 children 7-15). Bookings are essential to help plan the catering, though, and you can make them by contacting Glenda on 0428-161-410 or Taalei on 0448-445-656. Note: This event was cancelled on November 17.
