South Burnett Pony Clubs Gymkhana - Kumbia
The South Burnett Pony Clubs Gymkhana - one of the region's major annual equestrian competitions - will be held at the Kumbia Sportsgrounds from 8:30am this morning. The Gymkhana will feature eight separate classes of events for riders aged between 6 and 25 and will award ribbons to 5th place, points to 10th, and medallions to 3rd place in each age group. A canteen operated by the Kumbia Pony Club will be running all day, and camping fees (if you plan to stay overnight before or after today's competition) can be paid to the Pony Club too. Murgon CBD Markets
The monthly Murgon Markets will be held in Lamb Street in the heart of Murgon from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets offer locally-made crafts, foods and produce and are always an interesting Sunday morning out. New stall-holders are always welcome too! More details? Proston Rally
The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding the second (and final) day of their last quarterly CAMS Khanacross Multiclub Rally for 2015 at their track this morning. The club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston on the Proston-Boondooma Road, and racing will commence around 8:00am and conclude with results and awards around 1:30pm. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings from all over Queensland and NSW and spectators are very welcome. There'll be a BBQ and soft drinks stand running throughout the event, as well as a hearty breakfast supplied by the Proston Lions club. Hot showers, toilets and free camping are available on site too. Admission to the Rally is 100% free for spectators, $50 for adult participants and $25 for juniors. More details? Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy
Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy will be hosting Sunday afternoon poker games today. Registration starts at 2:00pm and the first cards are dealt at 2:30pm. There are $150 in prizes to be won and no fees to play. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Timbertown Woodworkers Meeting - Blackbutt
The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Team Penning Competition - Bell
The second (and final) day of a weekend-long Team Penning competition and novelty events will be held at the Bell Showgrounds in Bell today. The event is being organised by the Bell Campdraft committee and the Bell Show Society, and everyone is welcome.
Kilkivan Markets - Kilkivan
The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Ringsfield House Movie Afternoon - Nanango
Ringsfield House at 45 Alfred Street in Nanango will be launching their new Ringsfield Film Society at 2:30pm this afternoon in their newly-renovated theatre (a former Nanango church relocated to Ringsfield's grounds). Guests can meet and mingle on the back lawn for tea, coffee and scones before a special screening of the Orson Wells classic "Citizen Kane". The movie will be introduced by Nanango's Bill Collins (aka Peter Annslie) and since the theatre's seats have yet to be padded, guests should bring along a cushion plus $8 per head to cover the screening and refreshments. Open Mic Afternoon At The Palace - Nanango
The Palace Hotel at 77 Drayton Street in Nanango will be holding an Open Mic Jam Session from 2:00pm to around 7:00pm this afternoon, hosted by Mr Q. Anyone is welcome to put their name up on the blackboard and - when their turn comes - perform up to 20 minutes of originals or covers. All PAs, guitars and drums will be provided by Mr Q and there'll be Reel Pizzas on hand from 1:00pm to 7:00pm if you get peckish.
