South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
2022 Nanango Show
The second (and main) day of the 113th annual Nanango Show will get underway at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango at 8:30am this morning with horse ring events, stud beef and prime cattle judging. The pavilions will open at 9:00am and there'll be trotting heats in the main ring at 11:00am. The Showgrounds' bar will open at noon and the Show will be officially opened at 12:30pm, followed by the Grand Parade at 1:30pm and then the finals of the trotting. At 5:00pm there'll be chainsaw and block splitting classes in the main ring, and The Berrymen band will strike up at 6:30pm before the jaw-dropping Heritage Fireworks Show lights up the skies at 7:30pm. After this, the band will play on until late tonight. There'll also be a big Sideshow Alley and lots of food stalls in the grounds, plus Viv's Animal Farm, dinosaurs, a goat party and racing pigs to delight young children (and the young at heart!). Admission to today's show is just $15 for adults or $10 for concessions, and everyone's welcome.
Dinner Under The Stars - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be hosting Dinner Under The Stars outside their premises at Geoff Raph Drive in Kingaroy Airport from 3:00pm until late tonight. The event is as fundraiser for RACQ Lifeflight and guests should BYO table and chairs (some will be available onsite) to enjoy a fun night that will include a 2 course camp oven style dinner, a licensed bar, live music frfom The Sempf Family and Amos, games for the kids, a sponsors auction, a whip cracking demonstration, lucky door prize and raffles. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for young people aged 12-18 and $10 for children aged 5-12 (under 5s are free). Tickets can be obtained in advance from Kingaroy Office Central or purchased online. Note: If you're attending tonight, please bring cash - there are no EFTPOS facilities in the grounds.
Burnett Bands Together - Kingaroy
The Burnett Bands Together free music festival will be held in Kingaroy Town Hall's forecourt in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 5:00pm to around 11:00pm tonight. Six local bands will be performing (the Barambah Big Band, Rufus Jack, Ryza, Mudgarden, Mr Q. and Soul Good) and Kingaroy's Rotary and Lions Clubs will be running a cash bar and BBQ if you get thirsty or hungry. Guests should BYO chair and/or blanket, and everyone is welcome.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Yarraman Wild Horse Campdraft
The first day of the expanded Yarraman Wild Horse Campdraft will be held at the Yarraman Showgrounds on the New England Highway south-west of town from 6:00am this morning through until late this afternoon. Today's events will kick off with a Maiden Draft, which will be followed by two rounds of an Open, and then the finals of the Open in late afternoon. Tomorrow the action will swap to a Junior, a Juvenile and a Novice draft. A bar and canteen will be running in the grounds on both days, and campsites are also available onsite if you want to stay over. Admission is free for spectators. More details? Kumbia Community Markets
The monthly Kumbia Community Markets will be running at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia from 7:00am to around noon this morning (set-up is from 6:00am). Hoy Day & Cent Sale - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy & District Machinery Club will be holding a Hoy Day & Cent Sale at their clubhouse in Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 10:00am to 2:00pm today. The action will kick off with Hoy and will be followed by the Cent Sale, and in addition to a Lucky Door prize there'll be a raffle and a supplied lunch as well. Harvest Ball - Inverlaw Hall
A Harvest Ball will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by High Noon and there'll be a great supper and novelties, along with a Lucky Door draw, Lucky Spot prizes and a Monte Carlo. Railway Parkrun - Proston
The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. Alex The Frenchman - Kingaroy
Popular South Burnett entertainer Alex The Frenchman will be performing at the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 8:00pm until late tonight. Saturday Rugby League - Wondai
Rugby league fans should head to the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of Wondai's CBD today for three great games. At 1:15pm, the action will kick off with the Open Womens 47th Battalion Wide Bay Squad Trials. This will be followed at 3:00pm with Round 7 of the Mal Meninga Cup, which will see the U18s Wide Bay Bulls play against the Ipswich Jets. After this - at 4:45pm - the Wondai Wolves will play the Murgon Mustangs in a pre-season A-grade warm-up match. A canteen and bar will be running in the grounds, and everyone is welcome.
Cooranga North Campdraft
The annual Cooranga North Campdraft will be held at the Cooranga North Recreation Reserve on the Kingaroy Jandowae Road at Cooranga North from 6:30am this morning through to late this afternoon. The day will feature Maiden, Junior, Juvenile and Novice drafts, along with a Jackpot Cutout, and there's no admission charge for spectators and everyone is welcome! More details? Community Board Games Day - Kingaroy
A Gamez Knight Community Board Game Day will be held at Unit 13, 119 Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am to 6:00pm today. This event - held weekly - allows participants to play any of as many as 120 different board games on offer, either by themselves or with family and/or friends. Play will occur in two sessions from 10:00am to 2:00pm and 2:00pm to 6:00pm, and playing fees are just $5 per head for 4 hours or $15 per family.
