South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
South Burnett Speedway - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Speedway will roar into life this afternoon for the first day of the Speedway club's two-day Easter Stampede meeting. Today's action will feature the first rounds of the Production Sedans and Street Stocks 20/20, along with heats and finals for Modfified Sedans and Junior Sedans - New And Top Stars. All four competitions have drawn strong fields of top-flight competitors, and tonight's action will begin the long process of whittling the Production Sedans and Street Stocks down for the finals of both contests (which will be held tomorrow). Pit gates will open at 11:30am and the action will kick off with a Grand Parade at 3:30pm before racing gets underway at 4:00pm. As usual, canteen facilities will be operating at the track and everyone is welcome. Admission is $30 for adults, $15 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners; or $75 for a family of two adults and two students (children 12 and under are free).
Spirit Of The Bush Balladeers Muster - Boondooma
The fifth day of the week-long Spirit Of The Bush Balladeers & Heritage Muster will be held at Boondooma Homestead at 8262 Durong-Mundubbera Road, Boondooma today. This popular annual campout week features lots of Australia's top bush balladeers and poets (more than 25 will be appearing at the Muster this year) along with walk-up artists. The Muster routinely attracts 700 to 800 caravanners plus day-trippers, and in addition to lots of non-stop music there'll also be great camp oven meals, a licensed bar, BBQ, stalls, and displays of vintage cars and engines, photography and historical items. Today's activities will feature a walk-up poet's breakfast at 8:00am, followed by an Invited Artists Concert that will run from 10:00am until late tonight in the Homestead's barn. Admission to today's Muster is $10 (bring cash - there's no EFTPOS on site). Bush camping is also available and can be booked by phoning the Homestead's caretakers on (07) 4168-0159. Bonye Bush University - Bunya Mountains
The Bunya Peoples Aboriginal Corporation's Bonye Bush University will be officially opened at 30 Tolme Street (the former Presbyterian Camp Bunya site) at Mowbullan in the Bunya Mountains today with a program that will stretch from noon onwards. Activities will get underway with a lunch and tour of the premises from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. This will be followed by a Welcome To Country and Smoking Ceremony at 2:30pm and then a variety of Indigenous dance troupe performances interleaved with talks by guest speakers that will run through to 5:30pm, after which the day will conclude with a dinner. Blackbutt Bands Together
Blackbutt Bands Together - a Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club Foundation Flood Appeal concert to raise funds for victims of the recent floods - will be held at the Radnor Hotel at the corner of Hart and Coulson Streets, Blackbutt from 3:00pm until around 10:00pm tonight. The concert will feature popular local bands Mr Q and Misfitz, along with performances by soloists Deni Chapell, Carolyn Dee, Matt Wild, Richard Arrowsmith and Warren Gould, and there's no entry fee. The Radnor's kitchen will also be open if you need meals or snacks. Everyone is welcome!
Railway Parkrun - Proston
The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Nanango Mini Market
The Nanango Mini Market, which runs on the 4th Saturday of each month (except January) outside the Churchyard Opp Shop at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be running from 7:00am to around noon this morning. Apart from offering great bargains at great prices - ranging from plants to craft work, DVDs, bric-a-brac, glassware, books, jewellery, photographic work and mosaic art - the markets also have a $2 sausage sizzle, $1.20 soft drinks ($2 for a coke) and gold coin donation tea and coffee if you get peckish. Manumbar Campdraft
The first day of the three-day 60th Annual Manumbar Campdraft will be held at the Manumbar Campdraft Grounds at 3896 Manumbar Road today, kicking off at 6:00am this morning with the Burnett Ryan Memorial Maiden Draft, which will continue all day until around dusk. This year's campdraft will feature a Maiden, Novice, Junior, Juvenile and Open drafts, along with pony club events for children aged from 1 up to 17 tomorrow. Free on-site camping is available if you want to stay over, and takeaway meals are available too if hunger strikes. Admission to the campdraft is 100% free for spectators and everyone is welcome. The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. Seafood Smorgasbord - Wondai
Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street in Wondai will be holding another of their popular monthly all-you-can-eat Seafood Buffets from 6:00pm this evening (dinner starts at 6:30pm). The Buffet features all your favourite hot and cold seafoods fresh from the trawlers, as well as non-seafood dishes, desserts, tea and coffee. Landcruiser Exhibition Day - Kingaroy
Ken Mills Toyota at the corner of River Road and the Bunya Highway in Kingaroy will be holding a Landcruiser Exhibition Day from 9:00am to 5:00pm today as a fundraiser for Long Drive For Drought and Drought Angels. Landcruiser owners can enter their vehicle in one of five categories (Most Original, Toughest, Most Insta-worthy, Best Farm Rig or Most Likely To Be Used For Spare Parts) for just $10 to be in the running for cool prizes. The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Saturday Rugby League - Nanango
The South Burnett's 2022 rugby league competition will kick off today at Stags Oval off the D'Aguilar HGighway south of Nanango's CBD, with junior teams playing in the morning and early afternoon on the main and junior fields, capped off by two A-Grade games in late afternoon. The action will start on the main field at 8:00am with U10s, followed by U12s at 9:30am and then an U14 clash between Murgon and Chinchilla at 11:30am. At 12:30pm, the South Burnett U15s will play Highfields, followed by the U16s at 1:45pm and the U17s at 3:00pm. Then at 4:15pm there'll be an U14s match between Nanango and Kingaroy to wrap up the junior games on the main field. Meanwhile, on the junior field, the U6s will play at 8:00am and 8:45am, followed by U8s playing in four matches that will start at 9:30am, 10:15am, 11:00am and 11:45am. Finally, in A-Grade, Nanango's Stags will take on Wondai's Wolves at 5:15pm, followed by a second A-grade match between Kingaroy's Red Ants and Cherbourg's Hornets at 6:45pm. A canteen will be operating on site (and a bar once the junior games wrap up), and spectators are very welcome!

The Wondai Rifle Club will be holding its annual Anzac Day Memorial .303 Shoot at the club's shooting range in Rifle Range Road, Wondai from 10:00am. Participants will need their own bolt action .303 and ammunition, and a lunch will bed included in the entry fee. Everyone is welcome.
