Reflections On Anzac Day - Kingaroy
A pre-Anzac Day event organised by the Kingaroy-Memerambi RSL Sub-Branch in association with Kingaroy Library will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall's Supper Room in Glendon Street from 9:00am to 11:30am this morning. The proceedings will focus on World War I and the origins and evolution of many Anzac Day traditions. Special guest speaker and historian Dr Lesleigh Henning will explain why Australians were sent to Gallipoli, and after a morning tea, how Anzac Day evolved into the format we know today. Mr Barry Krosch will also give a talk about Kingaroy's war memorials and statues, and also discuss the evolution of Kingaroy's Anzac Day over the past 106 years since the town's first Anzac Day service was held in the Olympia Theatre in 1916. Admission is free and everyone is welcome!
