- The annual Maidenwell Bull Ride will be running this afternoon and evening behind the Maidenwell Hotel - an important annual fundraiser for the Tanduringie State School P&C. Gates will open at 4:30pm and the event will run to approximately 9:00pm tonight. This year's ride is being supported by Bendigo Bank and G3 Engineering. This is an affiliated NRA Bull Ride and there will be Open/Novice/U18 Bull Rides, U15/U12 Mini Bull Rides and a Local U12 Ride. The Maidenwell Hotel will be selling drinks and the P&C will once again be supplying meals. Entry fees are $15 for adults and $10 for high school students (primary and under free). A family pass (two adults and two high school students) is also available for $40. More information? Contact Bronwyn on 0439-842-412 or by email

- The South Burnett Speedway will roar into life this afternoon for the second day of the Speedway club's two-day National Production Sedan Title meeting. Today's action will feature the heats and finals of the Production Sedans (who'll be contesting the Australian title) along with the heats and finals of Modlites (who'll be contesting the Queensland title). Both competitions have drawn big fields of top-flight competitors and tonight's action will determine the ultimate winners of both of these prestigious racing titles. Gates will open at 2:00pm and racing will get underway at 4:00pm. As usual, canteen facilities will be operating at the track and everyone is welcome. Admission is $30 for adults, $15 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners; or $75 for a family of two adults and two students (children 12 and under are free).

Kumbia Charity Campodraft
- The second day of the three-day Kumbia & District Charity Campdraft will be held at the Kumbia Sportsgrounds off Bell Street in Kumbia from 6:00am this morning (when the canteen opens and begins serving up Big Country Breakfasts) through until late this afternoon. This year's Campdraft will have a bumper field of competitors and will be offering some really great Easter campdrafting action, with today's competitions focussing on the final round of the Novice followed by a Junior Draft, a Juvenile Draft and then the finals of the Restricted Open, Novice, Maiden and Maiden 4 Maiden. Admission to watch today's action is 100% free for spectators and this evening there'll be a dinner available at the campdraft's kitchen, along with a bar. There's also free overnight camping in the Sportsgrounds all weekend if you want to stay over. Everyone is welcome! More details? Phone Malcolm on 0427-009-399 or Monique on 0431-431-713.
Monogorilby Camp Oven Variety Muster
- Today is the third (and final) day of the three-day Monogorilby Camp Oven Variety Muster, which is held in the grounds of Monogorilby Hall north-west of Boondooma and Allies Creek. This annual event is a fundraiser for RACQ Lifeflight - who provide an essential service in this remote part of the world - and guests will be treated to Aussie bush poetry, ballads, music and comedy over the course of the next few days, along with great camp oven food. There's also free camping in the grounds (toilets, no showers), but if you want to enjoy the entertainment you'll need to buy a ticket. Because it's so remote, you'll also need to bring your own supplies plus cash if you're attending since there's no EFTPOS, mobile reception is flaky at best and Mono is a long way from anywhere. However, if you're looking to really get away from the everyday, this event should be a lot of fun! You can find out more on the Muster's Facebook page.
