Blackbutt Christmas Festival
The final day of week long 13th annual Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Club Christmas Festival will kick into gear at 8:30am this morning at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt when the hall's doors open for the second (and last) day of the annual Arts & Crafts Fair, which run until 12:00 noon; and also in Les Muller Park in Hart Street, where Blackbutt Hardware and Maudsley's Landscape Supplies will be hosting the annual Christmas Celebrity Hour which - this year - will feature a free sausage sizzle, a Mystery Celebrity Citizen and entertainment, coupled with a visit by Santa Claus at around 9:00am. Cooyar Big Community Christmas
The Cooyar Big Community Christmas will be held at Memorial Park from 2:00pm today. There will be a jumbo slide, jumping castle and face painting before Santa arrives at 6:30pm. Join in carols and watch Santa Paws the Movie at 7:30pm. More info (07) 4692-6122.
Christmas Dance - Tablelands Hall
A dance (and dance lessons, if you need them) will be held at Tablelands Hall from 6:30pm until late tonight (supper is served at 6:30pm; dancing will follow afterwards). The dance will feature old time and new vogue numbers and admission includes the supper - and because Christmas is coming up fast, tonight's dance will have a bit of a Christmas theme too. Lucas Oils Kingaroy Speedway
The South Burnett Speedway Club will be roaring into life at 4:00pm this afternoon for their last race meeting of the year - and it'll be a biggie! Today's meeting will feature V8 Super Sedans (competing for the Queensland Title), production sedans, street stocks, Formula 500s and junior sedans. There'll also be a fireworks display after dark, and a canteen will be operating too. Tickets to today's racing are $25 for adults, $15 for students or $65 for families of four (under-12s are free) and gates will open at 1:00pm. You can find out more on the Speedway's website.
Blackbutt-Benarkin Aged Care Association Xmas BBQ
The Blackbutt-Benarkin Aged Care Association will be holding a Christmas BBQ at Scott Haven at 49 Hart Street in Blackbutt from 2:00pm onwards this afternoon as a follow-on to the final morning of Blackbutt Christmas Festival revelries (see entry further above on this page). Everyone is welcome, but if you plan on attending you should BYO drinks and chairs - and to assist with planning the catering, an RSVP by November 29 would be greatly appreciated. Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and routinely attract 320 to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Show Jumping Under The Stars - Nanango
The Nanango Hack and Pony Club will be holding Show Jumping Under The Stars this afternoon and evening at the Nanango Pony Club grounds, which are located inside the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street. Show Jumping Under The Stars is open to all keen riders, whether they're current NPC members or not. Nominations will be taken at 3:00pm and jumping will start at 3:30pm in the rodeo arena and continue under lights once darkness falls. Drinks and a sausage sizzle will be available on site too. Jest Call Me Cowboy - Kingaroy
The Nanango Theatre Company will be giving the final performance of their latest theatre-restaurant production "Jest Call Me Cowboy" at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy at 7:00pm this evening. This hilarious new show spoofs the cowboys and indians genre, and has been written by South Burnett playwright Judith Prior. Tablelands Hall and the Tablelands Rural Fire Brigade will be holding their joint 2013 Christmas Break-Up at Tablelands Hall at 5:00pm this evening. Goomeri Christmas Carnival
The annual Goomeri Lions Club And Chamber of Commerce Christmas Carnival will be held in Dickinson's Park in Goomeri from 5:30pm this afternoon until late tonight. As usual, this very popular family event will feature ham wheels, chocolate wheels, raffles, market stalls, a bbq, music and a licensed bar. There'll also be a whip creaking demonstration; live entertainment from the Goomeri State School choir; face painting and games for children; and a children's Christmas Fancy Dress competition too! Santa will be arriving around 7.45pm to pose for photos with the little ones. Admission is 100% free.
Bike Education For Adults - Murgon
