New Year's Eve Family Rodeo - Goomeri
- The Goomeri and District Show Society will be holding their popular annual New Year's Eve Family Rodeo at the Goomeri Showgrounds tonight to help ring in the New Year. Gates will open at 4:00pm and the first rodeo events will kick off around 5:00pm and continue right on into the evening. The event is a full bull & bronc NRA-affiliated Rodeo so you can be certain of seeing some really top class rodeo action. Events on offer include an Open Bull Ride, Saddle and Bareback Broncs, Time Event Stock and the must-have Poddy Ride for all the junior cowboys and cowgirls. This year there'll also be a Ute Muster and Show and Shine with categories such as local, street, pre 80's, and the not-often-seen hunting rig and rodeo ute (judging will take place around noon). And after the rodeo concludes there'll be toe-tapping live entertainment with James Anderson. A fully licensed bar and BBQ will be operating all day and night, and there's also free unpowered camping sites available on the grounds if you want to stay over after the party winds down at around 1:00am. Great Gatsby New Year's Eve Party At The Wondai Hotel
- The Wondai Hotel & Cellar will be holding a Great Gatsby New Year's Eve Party from 7:00pm until around 1:00am tonight. South Burnett saxophonist Tom McKenzie will be performing along with Dean O'Chin and Helen Wintour in the rear beer garden, and the hotel's restaurant will be running full force. The party will get underway with Melbourne-inspired finger foods and complimentary champagne, along with a chocolate buffet from 11:30pm. There'll also be drink specials running all night and free sparkling wine from 11:30pm too. Tickets are $20 per head and 1920s fancy dress is encouraged.
