South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Yarraman Christmas Markets and Carnival
Yarraman will be celebrating the Festive Season with two events today: a Yarraman Christmas Market at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways, which will get underway at 7:00am and run until the afternoon; and the annual Yarraman Christmas Carnival, which will be held at Errol Munt Park just off the New England Highway from 4:00pm to a little after 10:00pm this evening. The Christmas Markets will feature a range of Christmas gifts, goodies and Yuletide essentials including fruit and vegies; home-made jams and preserves; fruit cakes; second-hand goods; plants; and a sausage sizzle. The evening's Christmas Carnival will feature free slides, free rides, food stalls and musical entertainment, as well as a special visit by Santa Claus at around 7:30pm when he'll arrive with presents for the children. After a dinner break at the BBQ, this will be followed with a giant fireworks display at 8:00pm and then the entertainment will continue until around 10:00pm. Everyone is welcome along to this popular Yuletide celebration and admission is 100% free. A licensed bar will also be operating, and there'll be a ham wheel too.
Art Exhibition, Variety Concert & Old Time Dance - Booie
Kingaroy artist Glady Hood will be holding an Art Exhibition, Variety Concert & Old Time Dance at the Booie Hall from early this afternoon until late tonight as a fundraiser for Care Outreach. Doors will open at 3:00pm and there'll be an official opening by former Member for Nanango Dorothy Pratt at 3:30pm, followed by afternoon tea at 4:00pm. This, in turn, will be followed by a Variety Concert performed by local and visiting artists which will run until dinner at around 7:00pm, and then the Old Time Dance will kick off at 8:00pm and run until late. Christmas With Friends - Nanango
Boots 'N' Bulldust will be holding a free community Christmas lunch at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street from 11:00am today. The "Christmas With Friends" lunch is for anyone in the community who's feeling lonely, isolated or struggling (financially and/or emotionally), and apart from a great free Christmas lunch and dessert it will also feature entertainment and free gifts for children. Everyone is welcome, but to properly plan the catering an RSVP to (0423) 830-234 is essential. "Christmas With Friends" is jointly sponsored by Bendigo Bank, Nanango FoodWorks, Nanango RSL, the Nanango Show Society, Wilsons Plumbing and the Nanango Race Club.

Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's 2013-14 cricket season will enter its 9th round today. In A-Grade, four teams will go head to head in the second day of the 2-day matches that began last week. In Wondai, Kingaroy RSL will play the Wondai Wolves at the Wondai Sportsgrounds off the Bunya Highway north of town. The Wolves will be resuming at 9-127 after Kingaroy declared at 7-302 last week, and the home team will be facing an uphill battle to overturn RSL's undefeated status this season. Meanwhile in Kingaroy, the Nanango Scorpions will play the Kingaroy Warriors at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street. The Warriors will be resuming at 5-133 after the Scorpions racked up 298 last week, and may wind up total toast if the Scorpions can score some early wickets. In B Grade, the Kumbia Rattlers will defend their lead position against Barambah when the two teams play a one-day match at the Kumbia Sportsgrounds; and at the Murgon Sportsgrounds, the Mugon Colts will play Kingaroy RSL on one field while the Murgon Diggers take on Kingaroy Warriors on another field in what some may see as a battle of the towns. Spectators and supporters are very welcome at all games.

Introductory DSLR Camera Workshop - Kingaroy
A two-day Introductory DSLR Camera Workshop will be held at the Quilters Rest in Weens Road, Kingaroy from 8:30am to 5:00pm today (and also tomorrow). The workshop will demystify the DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera for participants and show them how to unlock its creative potential. You'll also be able to learn about the camera and photographic principles in a quiet, comfortable environment. There'll be extensive hands-on practise sessions and small group sizes for individual attention. The Murgon Camera Club will be holding their regular second Saturday of the month meeting at The Studio at the rear of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon.
