The Big Burnett Brunch - Kingaroy
Taste South Burnett in Alford Street, Kingaroy will be holding The Big Burnett Brunch from 9:30am to 10:30am this morning, where guests can chow down on a mouth-watering selection of Taste South Burnett's gluten free product lines for $23 to $27 per head. Noel Miller Art Exhibition - Kingaroy
An exhibition featuring artworks and pastel portraits by Brisbane artist Noel Miller will be on display at the Kingaroy Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (just next to the Visitor Information Centre, opposite the peanut silos) from 10:00am to 2:00pm today. The Big Booie BBQ - Booie
Cranes Winery at Booie will be holding their annual Big Booie BBQ from 10:00am to 4:00pm today. Winemaker Bernie Cooper will be donning his chef's apron to cook up eye fillet steak sandwiches garnished with corn and beetroot salsa - a bit of a Cranes specialty - and popular entertainer Guy Davis will be providing hours of relaxed live music during lunch. In addition to steak sandwiches, Cranes will also have their usual assorted platters available plus - of course! - their full range of wines. South Burnett Regional Art Competition Exhibition - Wondai
The 2015 South Burnett Regional Art Competition Exhibition, which was officially opened at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai on Friday night, will be on display at the Gallery between 10:00am and 4:00pm today. This annual competition, which is only open to South Burnett artists, features paintings, sculpture, ceramics and photographic works. Wine Masterclasses And Pizza - Kingaroy
Kingsley Grove Winery at Stuart Valley Drive off the Bunya Highway south-west of Kingaroy will be open from 10:00am to 5:00pm today, and winemaker Simon Berry will be running one hour, completely free Wine Masterclass tours at 10:00am and 3:30pm in the Grove's modern, state of the art winery. The Masterclass will teach you how wine is made and the different factors that go into producing great wines, and they'll include a vertical tasting so you can see how different factors - including ageing - can have a great effect on the end result. Kingsley Grove's wines and wood-fired pizzas will also be available at their cellar door all day, too, if you'd like to sample some wines or sit down for a great meal. Picnic In The Paddock At Bunya Red Farm
Bunya Red Farm at Inverlaw will be holding a Picnic In The Paddock from 10:00am to 3:30pm today. Bunya Red Farm are Queensland's largest producers of capers, and today they'll be running field walks where guests can learn everything they never knew about how capers are grown, picked and processed; try out some of the many ways capers are used; and then cuddle one of the farm's alpacas for good measure if they want to - all for free. Music On The Mountains - Bunya Mountains
The Bunyas at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains will be hosting their annual Music On The Mountains afternoon from 2:00pm to 5:00pm today. Elz Bistro - located just to the rear of the Bunyas General Store - will be hosting talented local musicians, and guests can get a seat in the Bistro or outdoors on the lawns to enjoy the concert for free. The Bistro and Lyrics Licensed Restaurant will both be open and operating as usual today and tonight, but bookings at either one are highly advisable because the Bunya Mountains are usually packed out with holidaymakers every long weekend: (07) 4668-3131. Sax On The Ridge - Moffatdale
Well-known South Burnett saxophonist Tom McKenzie will be performing at the Moffatdale Ridge Winery on Barambah Road at Moffatdale today. The winery's cafe and cellar door will be open from 10:00am to 4:00pm for wine tastings, morning and afternoon teas and lunches, and Tom will be playing from 11:00am to around 3:00pm. Open Day At Ringsfield House - Nanango
Historic Ringsfield House in Alfred Street, Nanango will be holding an Open Day from 9:00am to 4:00pm today. Ringsfield was originally built in 1908 by renowned Queensland architect Robin Dods, and has been magnificently restored by the Nanango Historical Society. Visitors are welcome to browse through Ringsfield, its lush gardens or the many other historical buildings that have been relocated to the site; and can grab a morning or afternoon tea or lunch at the Ringsfield Cafe, which will also be open today. Team Penning Competition - Kilkivan
The Kilkivan Great Horse Ride committee will be holding the second (and final) day of their two-day Team Penning Competition at the Kilkivan Showgrounds as a fundraiser. Today's events will get underway at 9:00am with a Junior Team competition, and this will be followed later in the day with a Wildcard competition. A bar and canteen will be operating throughout and on-site camping will be available for $10 too. However the Showgrounds don't have EFTPOS facilities, so bring cash. Everyone is welcome!
Open Day At Taabinga Homestead - Haly Creek
Historic Taabinga Homestead at Haly Creek, south-west of Kingaroy, will be holding an Open Day from 8:30am to 1:00pm today. The Homestead was built in 1846 as one of the area’s pioneering properties, and is one of the oldest continuously-occupied buildings in Queensland, and is now part of the National Estate. These days, Taabinga Homestead is a working cattle property and bed and breakfast, situated amidst beautiful mature gardens with walking trails, a large dam, a cemetery, a vineyard and abundant native wildlife. Guests at today's Open Day will be able to get a rare glimpse at the property and several other historic buildings in the grounds. Maidenwell Folk Festival
The final day of the twice-a-year Maidenwell Folk Festival will be held in and around the historic Maidenwell Hotel in Maidenwell today, kicking off at around 9:30am and running until around lunch time. This is an all-acoustic get-together and today there'll be impromptu jam sessions on the hotel's wide verandahs and indoors. Cooyar Campdraft
The second (and final) day of the two-day Cooyar Campdraft will be running at the Cooyar campdrafting grounds off the New England Highway just west of the town from early this morning through until late this afternoon. This twice-yearly campdraft always draws large numbers of competitors and this year it will be featuring an Open Draft, Novice Draft, Maiden Draft, Junior Draft, Juvenile Draft and a Local Challenge Draft. R&R Rail Trail Duathlon - Blackbutt
Blackbutt will be playing host to more than 100 extra visitors today. They'll be taking part in the 2nd annual R&R Rail Trail Duathlon: a series of running and cycling athletic contests that will take place on the Rail Trail. Competitors in the duathlon have come from all over south east Queensland to participate, and racing will get underway early this morning and conclude towards lunch time. Auskart Racing Day - Nanango
South Burnett Kart Hire on the D'Aguilar Highway at Nanango (opposite the Big Bucket) will be hosting the second and final day of an Auskart Racing Weekend up until around 12:00 noon today. If you like to watch fast-paced, adrenalin fuelled go kart racing there'll be a lot of action on the track today, and admission for spectators is completely free. The Kingaroy Clay Target Club will be holding its monthly trap shooting competition at its range on the Goodger Road opposite Kingaroy Airport, about 3km south of Kingaroy, from 10:00am onwards today.
