Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. Today's markets will feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Gallery's new "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The Wondai Kindergarten's BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts to early bargain hunters. Bush Dance - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Kindergarten will be holding a Family Bush Dance at Kingaroy State School's sports hall from 5:00pm until 9:00pm tonight. There'll be fun and dancing for all with a bush band, food, soft drinks, raffles, Lucky Door and Best Dressed prizes. Tonight's event is a major fundraiser for the Kindy, and everyone is welcome. Kingaroy Swimming Pool Re-Opens
RESCHEDULED: The Kingaroy Swimming Pool - which has been undergoing extensive repairs over the winter months - will re-open to the public today for the 2015-2016 swimming season. In response to public requests, the refurbished pool will have shade sails over the Toddler's Pool and the grassed area. Note: The re-opening of this pool was set back to November 4 due to the installation of new processors at the Gordonbrook Water Treatment Plant, and the need to conserve water for a week while this was being carried out.
Comedy Night - Wondai
Fancy a good laugh? A Comedy Night featuring the outrageous Steady Eddie and four other hilarious stand-up comedians will be held at the Wondai Town Hall in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:00pm to around 11:30pm this evening. The evening is an annual fundraiser for the Wheatlands State School P&C, and last year's event was an outstanding success (though it's strictly for adults only). Tickets are $40 per head, which includes 3 courses of great finger foods, and a licensed bar will be operating too. Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Cheese & Sourdough Bread Workshops - Yarraman
Two separate 3 hour workshops on making cheeses and sourdough bread will be held at the Yarraman Over 50s Club in Emmert Street, Yarraman today. The first workshop, which will run from 9:30am to 12:30pm, will explain how to make feta cheese, cultured butter, ghee, yoghurt, kefir, kefir cheese and sour cream. And the second workshop (2:00pm to 5:00pm) will show how to make brie cheese from cow's milk, as well as delicious sourdough bread. Both workshops will be presented by Elisabeth Fekonia (pictured), an award-winning accredited permaculture teacher. Each workshop costs $60, but if you book in for both the total cost is $110 and lunch will be included. There'll also be cheese and yoghurt cultures available ($5 each); kefir grains ($10); a home cheese making DVD ($35); and a book on fermentation ($25). Girl Guides Family Portrait Photo Fundraiser - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Girl Guides will be holding a weekend-long Family Portrait Photo fundraiser at their hut in Mant Street, Kingaroy today and tomorrow. Mini Marvels Photography will be shooting family portraits by appointment, and for $35 you'll receive a free 8x10 mounted fine art print along with your portrait (other packages and photos are also available). Trivia Night - Bell
The Bell Junior Show Committee will be hosting a Trivia Night at the Bell Showgrounds from 6:30pm until late tonight (questions start at 7:30pm). Play will take place in teams of 4 or 8 for $10 per player, and there'll be a licensed bar, some nibbles provided (bring your own plate if you want more) and raffles throughout the evening, along with on-site child minding. 2015 Smithfield Golf Day - Proston
The Proston Golf Club on Brigooda Road at Proston will be holding their 2015 Smithfield Golf Day today. his year there'll be two events - a 9 Hole Individual Stroke for men and women with a shotgun start at 8:30am, followed by a BBQ lunch; and a 9 Hole 3 Person Ambrose with a shotgun start at 12:30pm, followed by a BBQ dinner. Admission is $15 for either competition (which includes one meal) or $20 for both competitions (which includes both meals). All non-golfers will be given handicaps of 17 and there can be no more than one person with a single figure handicap per team. Pancake Cooking Demonstrations - Kingaroy
Chef Jason Ford will be holding pancake cooking demonstrations at O'Neill Square in Haly Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to 10:00am this morning to raise awareness or World Polio Day (today) and the Taabinga Rotary Club's work to get a polio-free world. Jason will be demonstrating how to make pumpkin, buttermilk and paleo pancakes, and sharing his tips and tricks on how to get a perfect result every time.
Meet & Greet - Wondai
The Wondai Lions Club will be holding a Meet And Greet for new and old residents at the Lions Pavilion inside the Wondai Sports Grounds off the Bunya Highway north of the CBD from 2:00pm to 4:30pm this afternoon.
