Book Launch - Cherbourg
- Lesley Williams and her daughter Tammy will be jointly launching their new book "Not Just Black And White" at the Ration Shed Museum in Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg from 12:00 noon to 2:30pm today. The new book - which has already won the David Unaipon Award - is a memoir of Lesley's nine year journey to recover the wages and savings she earned as an Aboriginal domestic servant from her "protector", the Queensland State Government. This turned out to be a journey that would test every ounce of her resolve, but also a battle she ultimately won. Told with honesty and good humour, the book is an extraordinary memoir about two women determined to make sure a bleak part of Queensland's history is not forgotten. Today's launch is free to attend and light refreshments will be available, but for catering purposes an RSVP by Wednesday, October 14 would be greatly appreciated. You can make one by phoning The Ration Shed on (07) 4169-5753 or by by emailing the Museum. Note: Copies of the new book will also be available today, but only for cash sales (EFTPOS is out of action).
