South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Disability Action Week - Kingaroy
Paralympian Jodi Elkington-Jones will be a special guest speaker at a special Disability Action Week community get-together which will be held in the Glendon Street Forecourt of Kingaroy Town Hall from 12:00 noon to 5:00pm today. The event is being sponsored by SBCare and associated organisations and a variety of service providers will be on hand, showcasing the support services for disabled people available in the South Burnett. southburnett.com.au's culinary columnist Jason Ford will be giving cooking demonstrations at 2:00pm and 3:30pm, and there'll also be a sausage sizzle (proceeds to Relay For Life), games and activities and prizes to be won. Jodi will be talking at 12:30pm and again at 4:30pm about how she won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Everyone is welcome, and more details are available online.
Kumbia Quilt & Craft Group Meeting

Business Workshop - Kingaroy
South Burnett Directions will be hosting the fifth of six free weekly business workshops at Kingaroy TAFE at the corner of Geritz Road and the Bunya Highway from 5:45pm to 7:00pm tonight. Tonight's workshop topic will be e-marketing (ie using the internet and other new technologies to increase sales) and an expert TAFE lecturer will be discussing the most important points about this topic that small businesses need to master. Wondai SES Meeting
The Wondai SES will be holding their regular Monday night training session at their shed in McCord Street, Wondai from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Rising Stars Playgroup - Yarraman
The Yarraman Rising Stars Playgroup will be meeting at the Yarraman State School Meeting Room between 8:45am and 11:30am this morning. Children involved in the playgroup will get to enjoy a morning of indoor and outdoor play and fun; develop pre-reading and pre-writing skills; form strong relationships with other children; and transition to school more smoothly. If you're bringing your child along, you should also bring along morning tea, a water bottle, a hat, closwed-in shoes suitable for climbing and old clothes (sunscreen will be provided). Rail Trail Public Consultation Meetings - Wondai and Wooroolin
UPDATE: Wooroolin meeting has been cancelled. Council will now engage one-on-one with key businesses in the Wooroolin area
 
The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding two public consultation meetings about the Kingaroy-Murgon Rail Trail in Wondai and Wooroolin today. The first meeting will be held at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery at 2:30pm and the principal topic for discussion will be upgrading the former Wondai railway station building and adjoining tracks as a tourist feature and community facility; and the second meeting will be held at Wooroolin's Grand Hotel at 5:30pm this evening to update Wooroolin businesses about the potential economic stimulus the Rail Trail is expected to bring to the town after it opens, and how they can capitalise on this. Further meetings will also be held in Kingaroy tomorrow evening and at Murgon on Thursday, October 8.

SBCOnShow Meeting - Murgon
The South Burnett & Cherbourg On Show festival committee will be holding their seventh meeting for 2015 from 10:30am to 12:30pm this morning at the old Murgon Shire Council Chambers in Stephens Street West, Murgon to work on planning this year's October long weekend event. Monday Evening Bingo - Blackbutt

Alcoholics Anonymous - Wondai
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experiences, strengths and hopes with each other to help solve their common problems and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership, and AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution.
