Agatha Christie's Verdict - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the first perfomance of Agatha Christie's 1958 murder mystery "Verdict" at the Nanango Playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets in Nanango at 7:00pm tonight (play begins at 7:30pm). The NTC's latest production tells the story of Karl Hendryk, a brilliant professor who has fled persecution in his country with his wife and her cousin. He is safely ensconced in a British university where he is respected by students and faculty alike. But his wife Anya, an invalid suffering from a progressively debilitating disease, bitterly regrets having been forced to leave her home and her friends and is unhappy with all aspects of her life in England. Her cousin, Lisa Koletzky, has moved with them to care for Anya and to manage the professor's home. Karl and Lisa have suppressed feelings for each other, and the situation is further disturbed when a rich young student, Helen Rollander, begins taking private lessons with the professor. Tickets - which include supper at intermission - are $20 for adults and $15 for pensioners or students. They can be purchased in advance from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre in Henry Street, Nanango, or at the door before each performance, if not sold out. Note: three additional performances will be held at the same time and venue tomorrow night, and next Friday and Saturday night.

Today's meeting will kick off at 10:00am with a cuppa and will be followed by a three-course lunch at 12:00 noon.
