Welcome To Wondai
Here's something different! A special "Welcome To Wondai" community celebration will be held at Coronation Park in the heart of Wondai's CBD from 2:00pm until around 7:30pm tonight. The event is designed to bring the community and friends of Wondai together for an afternoon of relaxed and informal family fun, and it's all completely free. Things will kick off at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery at 2:00pm when the Wondai CWA & Community Choir and the Wondai State School Choir join forces to present a "Songs Of Remembrance" concert, followed by a gold coin donation afternoon tea. Then from 3:30pm to around 5:30pm, everyone will be encouraged to meet and mingle in Coronation Park where there'll be great live entertainment provided by the popular "Stepping Stones" and lots of community stalls providing information on local groups, plus a jumping castle, fairy floss and pony rides for children. The Wondai Kindy BBQ will also be operating to supply food and soft drinks, and the QCWA will have a stand selling tea, coffee and cakes. At 4:00pm, children (and adults) can learn how to make paper planes in readiness for a 5:00pm paper plane flying competition that will offer prizes for children and also a prize in the adult section. After this, at around 5:30pm, there'll be a free outdoor movie screening of the award-winning Australian comedy "Paper Planes" (rated G), which was one of the big hits of this year's Heritage Bank Nanango Big Screen Film Festival - just BYO chair or blanket. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
