Remembrance Day

Today is Remembrance Day and a number of public services will be held throughout the South Burnett at 11:00am this morning to mark it. Everyone is welcome to attend these services to acknowledge the sacrifices made by our nation's servicemen and women in all the conflicts Australia has participated in. Today's Remembrance Day services will also mark the 106th anniversary of the Armistice which ended WWI (the guns fell silent at 11:00am). 2024 also marks 79 years since the end of WWII.  
 
Blackbutt:
A commemorative service will be held at the Blackbutt RSL at the corner of Muir and Douglas Streets from 10:30am this morning. More details? Phone John on 0408-010-932.
Yarraman:
A service will be held at the Yarraman Cenotaph on the D'Aguilar Highway at 11:00am (wreath-layers should arrive prior to 10:45am). More details? Phone Warwick on 0499-549-662.
Nanango:
A service will be held at the Nanango War Memorial at the corner of Henry and Drayton streets from 10:45am this morning (assembly is at 10:40am).
Kingaroy:
This year's Kingaroy Remembrance Day service will be held at Memorial Park in Haly Street, Kingaroy, beginning with a short parade in the park to the Memorial Rotunda at 10:15am (assemble at the Burnett Street end of the footpath at 10:00am). Guest speaker at the service will be Major Mick Richards ARA. After the service, all guests will be invited to Kingaroy RSL for refreshments.
Wondai:
A service will be held at the cenotaph outside the Wondai Town Hall in Mackenzie Street at 11:00am this morning (assembly is at 10:45am). The commemoration will be followed by light refreshments at the nearby Wondai Diggers Club. More details? Phone 0499-544-278.
Murgon:
A service will be held at the Murgon War Memorial on the corner of Lamb and Gore Streets between 10:30am and 11:15am this morning. The day's proceedings will be followed by a light lunch in the Diggers Room to which everyone is invited.
Goomeri:
A service will be held at the Goomeri Memorial Clock at the corner of the Wide Bay and Burnett Highways at 10:30am. More details? Phone David Pitstock on 0427-169-043.
Widgee:
Widgee will mark Remembrance Day with a service at the Widgee Cenotaph next to Widgee Hall. Guests should arrive no later than 10:50am for the 11:00am service.
Bell:
Bell will mark Remembrance Day with a service in Memorial Park in Dennis Street from 10:30am to 11:15am service.
Wondai To Kingaroy Shopping Bus
Graham House will be running a shopping bus between Wondai and Kingaroy today. The bus will pick up customers from their Wondai address at 8:30am and transport them to Kingaroy Shoppingworld (or other destinations if arranged beforehand), then make a return journey to Wondai at around 11:30 noon. Tickets on the bus are $10 per person return and it runs every Monday, but places are limited so a booking is necessary. Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers from 8:00am to noon today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Nanango Men's Shed
The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango, will be open from 8:30am to around noon today for its regular Monday get-together. The Men's Shed meets most Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome! More details? Phone 0491-102-087.
Gem & Fossicking Club - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club will be holding their regular Monday meeting at their club's workshop in Shed 2 in the South Burnett Enterprise Centre at 6 Cornish Street, Kingaroy from 8:30am to around 12:00 noon today. Junior & Senior Boxing Classes - Kingaroy

Wild Horse Walking Club - Yarraman
Yarraman's Monday Walking Club will meet up at the BBQ Hut next to the toilets in Errol Munt Oval on Margaret Street, Yarraman at 7:00am this morning for a leisurely one-hour walk on a concrete path walking circuit. The group helps members stay active and healthy as well as meet new friends, and it has very flexible walking options, too. Cooinda Craft Group - Kingaroy
The Cooinda Craft Group will be holding its regular Monday morning meeting at the Kingaroy Town Hall Reception Room in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am to 1:30pm today. Members of the group pursue a wide variety of crafts and newcomers are always welcome - just BYO favourite craft or come along and learn a new one with other members. Morning tea is supplied as well. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 1A (Lot 3) Railway Terrace in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). And anyone who's finding it hard to make ends meet is very welcome to make use of it. More details? Phone James on 0438-071-658.
