65th Annual Cooyar Show
- The 65th Annual Cooyar Show will be held at the Cooyar Showgrounds on Rangemore Road in Cooyar from 8:00am this morning through until very late tonight. The Cooyar Show marks the start of the South Burnett's agricultural show season and it's always a really great family day out. This year's Show will be officially opened by Stan Wallace, from the Queensland Country Life, at 12:30pm. As well as all the usual highlights including pavilion exhibits, stud beef cattle and side-show alley, there’ll be chainsaw events and post-ripping with cash prizes. Competitors will also be keenly contesting the Sub-chamber Beef Young Judges and Young Paraders competitions. A special trophy has been presented to the Show Society this year in memory of the late Ken Munt, and it will be awarded to the most successful “family unit” exhibiting at the show. In the evening, there’ll be live music, fireworks and the ever-popular Cooyar Bull Ride. Entry to this year's Cooyar Show is still just $15 for adults and $5 for high school students (primary school aged children are free) and everyone is welcome along! Evolution Solar South Burnett Soccer 7s - Kingaroy
- The 32nd annual Evolution Solar South Burnett Soccer Sevens will be held at the Kingaroy Soccer Grounds in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy all this weekend. This giant pre-season carnival - run by the South Burnett Senior Soccer Association - attracts teams from all over south-east Queensland and is one of the region's major annual sporting events. This year organisers expect there'll be upwards of 45 mens and womens teams competing for more than $2,000 in prize monies and locals are also very welcome to form a team and join in! Today's games will get underway at around 9:40am and will run to about 6:20pm. Admission to the Soccer Sevens is 100% free for spectators and there'll be a licensed bar and full catering operating at the grounds too. The carnival will conclude with finals matches tomorrow. Wondai Country Markets
- The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. Today's markets will feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Gallery's new "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The Wondai Kindergarten's BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts to early bargain hunters. Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Bush Poetry Dinner - Kumbia
- Here's something different! If you're a fan of bush poetry, then get along to the Kumbia Progress Association's annual Bush Poetry Dinner, which will be held at the Kumbia Sportsground Lunch Room from 6:00pm to around 9:00pm tonight (entry to the Showgrounds can be made via the Kumbia-Brooklands Road or from Bell Street). Invited, renowned bush poets will keep you in stitches and Ray (on guitar) will keep your toes tapping while you enjoy a delicious 2 course meal. Fruit & Veggie Markets - Yarraman
- Yarraman's monthly Fruit & Vegetable Markets will be running on the empty block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (opposite Bendigo Bank) from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. These new markets run on the 4th Saturday of each month and offer a wide range of fresh fruit and veggies, along with plant and craft stalls.
Baby Show & Markets Fun Day - Nanango
- The Nanango Funfest committee will be holding a special Baby Show & Markets Fun Day at Rosie's Fun 4 All at 14 Racecourse Road, Nanango from 9:00am onwards today as a fundraiser for this year's Heritage Nanango Mardi Gras. There'll be a Baby Show starting at 9:00am - entry is just $5 for children aged up to 7 - and markets starting at the same time too. There'll also be a sausage sizzle, heaps of stalls, bucket loads of children's activities and a professional photographer on hand to shoot pictures (again, for just $5 per photo). Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
PK Duo - Nanango

Breakfast & Brunch At Dimities - Wondai
- Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street in Wondai (opposite the Wondai Art Gallery) will be holding a Breakfast and Brunch Experience today in conjunction with the monthly Wondai Markets (see entry elsewhere on this page). Chef Graham and his friendly staff will be serving up all sorts of delicious breakfast and brunch treats from the blackboard menu, providing a great way to relax and take a break from the shopping in Coronation Park. - The South Burnett's favourite motorcycle club, the Ulysses MC Burnett Branch (motto: "Grow old disgracefully") will be holding an overnight ride to the Dalby campout today and tomorrow. Lucas Oils Kingaroy Speedway
- The South Burnett Speedway will be roaring into life at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 4:00pm this afternoon for another great night of thrills, spills and high-octane racing. The major event at tonight's meeting will be the Production Sedans Queensland Title, but there'll also be Late Models (part of the Boettcher Race Parts Thunder Series), AMCA's and Junior Sedans as well. Admission prices are $25 for adults, $15 for students and pensioners (bring your ID) or $65 for a family pass (2 adults plus three students), but under-12s can get in for free. Mr Q - Blackbutt
- Popular South Burnett band Mr. Q will be performing at the Radnor Hotel at the corner of Hart and Coulson Streets, Blackbutt from 7:30pm to 11:30pm this evening. Saturday Cricket
- The South Burnett's 2013-14 A-Grade cricket competition will enter its 16th round today with the second half of the two-day matches begun last weekend. In Kingaroy, the Warriors will play the Wondai Wolves at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street; while in Murgon, the Crusaders will tackle the Nanango Scorpions at the Murgon Sportsgroundst. And in the 15th round of the B Grade competition (all one day matches), RSL will play Warriors; Diggers will play Barambah; and Colts will play Kumbia. Spectators and supporters are very welcome at all games.
Madcap Medley Bowls - Kingaroy

Saturday Golf
- There's a lot of golfing action around the region today. In Blackbutt, the Blackbutt Golf Club in Bowman Road will be holding the qualifying round of the Dugdell-McLennan Knockout Matchplay Championships, a 4BBB Medley (NP). In Nanango, the Nanango Golf Club on the D'Aguilar Highway will be holding an open 4BBB Mixed Stableford Club Trophy - a single stableford fior men without partners. In Kingaroy, the Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway will be holding a Men's Single Stableford. And in Murgon, the Murgon Golf Club on the Bunya Highway will be holding a Men's Stroke for a club trophy, as well as the Women's Monthly Medal. New players are very welcome at all games.

- The Murgon Camera Club will be holding their regular monthly meeting at The Studio at the rear of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon.
