South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Nanango Christmas Races
The Nanango Race Club will be holding their annual Christmas Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 12:30pm to around 4:30pm this afternoon. Today's meeting will have a "Roaring 20's Vintage" theme and everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best 1920s or vintage outfits to be in the running for some great Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of The Field prizes. The club's popular Pink Champagne bar will be running all day too and there'll also be a licensed bar and BBQ operating under the new, extended covered area; bookmakers and an on-course tote. A lot of people like to use the Christmas Race Meeting for early Christmas parties with workmates, and you can picnic on the lawns or even bring your own marquee. This will be a 5-race meeting and buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy's Carrollee Hotel (at noon) and Glendon Street Bus Depot (12:15pm), and the Nanango RSL at 12:30pm. Gates will open at the track itself at around 10:00am so that go-getters can get a head start on that all-important socialising. Jest Call Me Cowboy - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be holding the fifth performance of their latest theatre-restaurant production "Jest Call Me Cowboy" at the Nanango RSL in Henry Street, Nanango at 7:00pm this evening. This hilarious new show spoofs the cowboys and indians genre, and has been written by South Burnett playwright Judith Prior. Tickets - which include a great two course meal and the chance to win prizes - are $40 per head (or $35 per head for groups of 8 or more). They can be booked by phoning Brad on (0409) 895-527. Lions Country Garden & Lifestyle Expo - Blackbutt
The second day of the three-day 8th annual Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Garden and Country Lifestyle Expo will be held at the Blackbutt Sports Centre in Janice Court from 8:30am this morning until 5:00pm this afternoon. The Expo will feature a large range of garden and home-related displays from 50 different exhibitors focussing on things as diverse as storage tanks, pumps, the latest in building materials and design, pottery, crafts, garden furniture and accessories, plants, livestock, patchwork and quilt-making, wood-working and wool-spinning. There'll also be children's activities and live entertainment too. The Lions will also be operating their canteen van throughout the day, kicking off at 6:30am with breakfasts. South Burnett Community Orchestra Concert - Kumbia
The South Burnett Community Orchestra will be performing the second of their two annual concerts at the Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia at 5:00pm this evening (the concert begins at 5:30pm). Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and concessions, or $40 for a family and a BBQ dinner will be available for purchase on-site. Men's Shed - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be open from 9:00am to 12:00 noon today behind the Salvation Army's headquarters at 44 Alford Street in Kingaroy. The shed is open to all men who'd enjoy the companionship of other men while undertaking woodwork, metalwork or similar projects or who'd just enjoy a chat. More details? Bike Education For Adults - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be running the 3rd week of a 4-week "Bike Education For Adults" course this morning. Today - and next Saturday - participants will learn how to set their bike up; general bike maintenance skills; how to change gears on a bike; and how to take a water bottle out while riding. Nanango Christmas Tree Festival & Celebration Dinner
The 5th annual Nanango Christmas Tree Festival will be held at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street from 9:30am to 3:00pm today. The Festival - a display of Christmas trees (this year's theme is "A Christmas Story") - helps raise money for local school chaplaincy programs, and it will continue every day until Sunday, December 1st. Entry is by donation and morning and afternoon teas will be available for $4. This evening, a 3 course Celebration Dinner will also be held at the Cultural Centre from 6:30pm onwards as a Christmas Tree Festival highlight. Tickets to the dinner are $15 for adults and $10 for primary school students and need to be booked by Monday, November 25. Kumbia Country Markets
The fourth Kumbia Country Markets for 2013 (run by the Kumbia Hall Committee) will be held in Bell Street and the precincts of the Kumbia Hall from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. The markets feature homemade gifts, fashions, fresh fruit and vegies, plants and crafts and a sausage sizzle will be operating too! Dance - Booie Hall

Susan Dowdle School Of Dance Annual Concert - Murgon
The Susan Dowdle School of Dance will be holding the second (and final) perormance of their 13th annual Dance Concert at Murgon Town Hall off Lamb Street, Murgon at 6:30pm this evening. The concert will feature enthusiastic performances of classical, jazz and tap dancing to themed of "Shrek" and popular TV shows by the School's students, along with a wide array of colourful costumes. Admission is $15 for adults and secondary students and $8 for primary school students (pre-schoolers are free) and tickets will be available at the door. Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's 2013-14 cricket season will enter its 7th round today. In A-Grade, the Murgon Crusaders will play the Kingaroy Warriors at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in the second (and final) day of their two day match, which began last week; and in B-Grade, the Kumbia Rattlers will play Kingaroy RSL at the Kumbia Sportsgrounds; Barambah will play the Kingaroy Warriors at Murgon State High School; and the Murgon Colts will play Murgon Diggers at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street. Spectators and supporters are very welcome.
Social Golf Day - Nanango
The Nanango Golf Club will be holding a Social Golf Day on their greens off the D'Aguilar Highway north of Nanango's CBD this afternoon.
