Jest Call Me Cowboy - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be holding the fourth performance of their latest theatre-restaurant production "Jest Call Me Cowboy" at the Nanango RSL in Henry Street, Nanango at 7:00pm this evening. This hilarious new show spoofs the cowboys and indians genre, and has been written by South Burnett playwright Judith Prior. Tickets - which include a great two course meal and the chance to win prizes - are $40 per head (or $35 per head fo groups of eight of more). They can be booked by phoning Brad on (0409) 895-527. Note: One final performance will be held at Nanango RSL tomorrow night and - by popular demand - two further performances will be held at Kingaroy RSL on December 6 and 7. Shona Muckert Calendar Launch - Murgon
A special calendar to help raise funds for dual amputee Shona Muckert will be launched at the Murgon Golf Club on the Bunya Highway in Murgon at 5:00pm this evening. The calendar contains photos of Murgon and district shot by local photographers Sherrianne Talon, Peter Allcock, Laura Muckert and Kym Cross. The photos have also been put onto canvas, and these will be auctioned tonight. There'll also be a two-course BBQ dinner catered by Raj Begeda, entertainment, drinks and great company. Personalised "Shona, Help me Walk Again" bottles of wine will be on sale, supplied by Burnett Valley Vineyards. Calendars are $20 each and will also be available for purchase next week at the Murgon Pharmacy, Mark Smith Menswear, Murgon Bakery & Dennis Electrical. More details? Junior Blue Light Disco - Kingaroy
The sixth - and final - bi-monthly Junior Blue Light Disco for 2013 will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to 8:30pm this evening. Tonight's disco will have a "Super Hero" theme, and entry is restricted to young people aged 14 and below who can produce their student ID. In addition to a fun night out, tonight's disco will also have some great prizes to be won as well (courtesy of sponsors Freemans Real Estate and Bill Hull Car Centre). Admission is $5 and - as usual - attendees are asked to remember that Blue Light Discos are drug, alcohol, chewing gum and tobacco free and no passouts or early exit will be given without parental permission and/or collection. Lions Country Garden & Lifestyle Expo - Blackbutt
The first day of the three-day 8th annual Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Garden and Country Lifestyle Expo will be held at the Blackbutt Sports Centre in Janice Court from 3:00pm this afternoon until 8:00pm tonight. The Expo will feature a large range of garden and home-related displays from 50 different exhibitors focussing on things as diverse as storage tanks, pumps, the latest in building materials and design, pottery, crafts, garden furniture and accessories, plants, livestock, patchwork and quilt-making, wood-working and wool-spinning. There'll also be children's activities and live entertainment too. The Lions will be hosting a sausage sizzle in the grounds tonight, and Chinese food will be available at the Sports Centre. Charity Bowls Day - Goomeri
A special Charity Lawn Bowls Day to raise funds for dual amputee Shona Muckert will be held at the Goomeri Bowls Club at 57 Moore Street in Goomeri from 12:30pm onwards today. Shona is attempting to raise $75,000 for some revolutionary surgery that may allow her to walk again, and today's get together is part of a region-wide fundraising effort to assist her. Friday Night Darts - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular weekly Social Competition Night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. This is a 3-a-side event with a $5 playing fee, and a fully licensed bar will be operating along with raffles. New players are always very welcome, and the club caters for all skill levels from novice to expert. Country Music Practice Night - Nanango

Friday Night With The Sultan Of Sax - Wondai
The South Burnett's very own "Sultan Of Sax" Tom McKenzie will be playing on the rear deck of the Wondai Hotel & Cellars in Haly Street, Wondai from 6:00pm until late tonight. Friday Night Social Bowls - Murgon
The Murgon Bowls Club in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding Friday Night Social Bowls from 6:00pm onwards this evening (bar opens at 4:00m; games start at 6:30pm). The $15 green fee includes all games and a great BBQ dinner, and it's open to bowlers and non-bowlers alike - just wear soft-soled shoes or go barefoot. The South Burnett Wine Appreciation Society will be holding their monthly meeting at their regular meeting address - the 1913 Council Chambers in Edward Street behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre - from 6:30pm onwards this evening. Tonight's meeting will feature a tasting of wines from Hungary, Germany and Malta and everyone is welcome. A community cafe will be operating at the Wesleyan Methodist Church hall at 55 Cairns Street, Nanango from 5:00pm to 8:00pm tonight. The cafe provides a free meal and company for anyone who wants to come along, and everyone is welcome.
Nanango Christmas Tree Festival
The 5th annual Nanango Christmas Tree Festival will be held at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street from 9:30am to 4:00pm today. The Festival - a display of Christmas trees (this year's theme is "A Christmas Story") - helps raise money for local school chaplaincy programs, and it will continue every day until Sunday, December 1st. Entry is by donation and morning and afternoon teas will be available for $4. Everyone is welcome!

Community Consultation Meeting - Tablelands
The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding a Comnmunity Consultation Meeting at Tablelands Hall from 7:00am to 8:00am this morning to get the views of local residents about the best way to respond to the Lavers Road landslip. The road - which is currently closed - suffered a major landslip in the 2013 floods and the Council has several options about how to fix the situation. Howeveer, the ultinate choice about which solution is taken will be up to local property owners. The purpose of this morning's meeting is to lay out all the options amd the pluses and minuses that attach to each one, then get feedback on them. However, if you can't make this morning's meeting and you're a Tablelnds property owner, you can also get the information and make your views known by phoning General Manager Infrastructure Russell Hood at the South Burnett Regional Council on (07) 4189-9100.
Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
