Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. Today's markets will feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Gallery's new "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The Wondai Kindergarten's BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts to early bargain hunters. South Burnett Open Junior Golf Classic - Nanango
The Nanango Golf Club on the D'Aguilar Highway north of the CBD will be holding the South Burnett Open Junior Golf Classic (part of the Greg Norman Golf Foundation circuit) from 10:30am onwards today. Keen boys and girls with a registered GA handicap will be competing for over $1500 in prizes, and the $20 entry fee includes a steak burger and drink for lunch. Jest Call Me Cowboy - Wondai
The Nanango Theatre Company will be holding the third performance of their latest theatre-restaurant production "Jest Call Me Cowboy" at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai at 7:00pm this evening. This hilarious new show spoofs the cowboys and indians genre, and has been written by South Burnett playwright Judith Prior. Tickets - which include a great two course meal and the chance to win prizes - are $40 per head (or $35 per head for groups of eight or more). They can be booked by phoning Brad on (0409) 895-527. South Burnett Community Orchestra Concert - Murgon
The South Burnett Community Orchestra will be performing the first of their two annual concerts at the Murgon Town Hall in Gore Street, Murgon at 6:30pm this evening (the concert begins at 7:00pm). Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students and concessions, or $40 for a family and this includes a supper. World's Greatest Shave Big Night Out - Kumbia
A Big Night Out fundraiser for the World's Greatest Shave (ie the Leukaemia Foundation) will be held at the Kumbia Hotel in Bell Street, Kumbia from 5:00pm onwards tonight. The event will feature a BBQ dinner and dessert; live entertainment; a lucky door prize; raffles; an auction; and lots and lots of shaving. Breakfast And Brunch At Dimities - Wondai
Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street in Wondai (opposite the Wondai Art Gallery) will be holding a Breakfast and Brunch Experience today in conjunction with the monthly Wondai Markets (see entry elsewhere on this page). Chef Graham and his friendly staff will be serving up all sorts of delicious breakfast and brunch treats from the blackboard menu, providing a great way to relax and take a break from the wild crush of pre-Christmas shopping in Coronation Park. Bike Education For Adults - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be running the 2nd week of a 4-week "Bike Education For Adults" course this morning. Today - and over the next two Saturdays - participants will learn how to set their bike up; general bike maintenance skills; how to change gears on a bike; and how to take a water bottle out while riding. South Burnett Home Based Business Expo - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Home Based Business Group will be holding their final Expo for 2013 in Kingaroy RSL's Tobruk Room off Short Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to around 4:00pm today. The Expo will showcase a wide variety of South Burnett home-based businesses and there'll also be demonstrations, a major lucky door prize and a cent auction. Admission is free. More details? Chillaxin - Kingaroy
The Highway Christian Church at the corner of the D'Aguilar Highway and Edenvale North Road south of Kingaroy will be staging "Chillaxin" from 7:00pm to 10:00pm this evening - a night of contemporary Christian music on the big screen including artists such as Mandisa, Audio Adrenaline, Newsboys and Chris Tomlin. Chillaxin is a no-alcohol, no-drugs event, but admission is completely free and snacks and drinks will be on sale (with proceeds going to the Rickshaw Mission Project). Everyone is welcome! Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's 2013-14 cricket season will enter its 6th round today. In A-Grade, Kingaroy RSL will play the Nanango Scorpions at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy while the Crusaders will play the Warriors at another venue. There won't be any B-Grade matches this weekend, though - all teams are having a bye. Spectators and supporters are very welcome.
No Frills Gallangowan Rally - Manumbar
The No Frills Gallangowan Rally will be held in the Gallangowan State Forest near Manumbar from 10:30am onwards this morning. Rally drivers will leave the Manumbar Gymkahana And Hall Association grounds on Manumbar Road at Manumbar, and return there at the conclusion of the race at around 5:40pm. This will be followed by the presentation of awards at around 6:30pm and then a social evening. 38 cars - and 76 drivers and co-drivers - are expected to take part in this year's rally, and the Hall Association are catering for at least 100 people. The rally will pass the Hall about five times during the course of the day and spectators are very welcome! Note: Because of the rally, a number of roads in the forestry area will be closed to the general public today.

POSTPONED The South Burnett Softball Association will be holding a Burnett Softball Festival at the Burnett Softball Grounds at 18 Burnett Street, Nanango today. Amongst other things, the event will feature an exhibition game by The Patriots; a junior "Come & Try" clinic; an open age OzPitch Tournament; a jumping castle; and showbags.
