Christmas With Friends - Nanango
Nanango's annual "Christmas With Friends" free community lunch will be held at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango from 11:00am this morning through until mid-afternoon. This is a fun Boots'n Bulldust event for the whole community sponsored by local businesses and charities, and is open to everyone who would like to come together in the spirit of Christmas to share a lovely meal and good company - particularly those who are feeling lonely, isolated or have just had a bad year. All guests will be treated to a hot Christmas lunch, entertainment and gifts for the kids - absolutely free - but bookings are essential for catering (and also so that Santa knows how many gifts to bring). SB Mart Garage Sale - Kingaroy
Kingaroy State High School P&C is clearing out what's left at the now-closed SB Auction Mart with a massive garage sale from 8:30am to 10:30am today at the premises in First Avenue, Kingaroy. No reserve prices; everything must go! Cash or EFTPOS only, and goods must be taken on the day.
Boondooma Community Christmas Carols
Boondooma Homestead at 8262 Durong-Mundubbera Road, Boondooma will be holding their annual Community Christmas Carols service for residents of Boondooma, Durong and all adjacent districts at 5:00pm this evening. This popular annual event always draws a good crowd and everyone is welcome!
Christmas Dance - Booie Hall
A special Christmas Dance will be held at Booie Hall at 1867 Booie Road from 8:00pm until around midnight tonight. Music will be supplied by a local band and there'll be the usual great supper, novelties and lucky door prize. Admission is $10 for adults or $5 for high school students and everyone is welcome! Yarraman Christmas Markets
CANCELLED Yarraman will be celebrating the Festive Season with a Christmas Market at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways. The markets will will get underway at 7:00am and run until the afternoon; and will feature a range of Christmas gifts, goodies and Yuletide essentials including fruit and vegies; home-made jams and preserves; fruit cakes; second-hand goods; plants; and a sausage sizzle. Note: Yarraman will not be having a Christmas Carnival this year. Instead, it's been replaced by a New Year's Day celebration that will be held in Errol Munt Part on Friday, January 1. However, the town's popular Community Christmas Carols service will be held on December 18 as usual.
Farmer's Dinner and Christmas Break-Up - Tableland
The Tableland Hall committee will be holding a Farmer's Dinner and Christmas break-up at Tableland Hall from 5:30pm until late tonight. Guests should BYO alcohol and dessert, and if you plan on attending you'll need to RSVP to Joan on (07) 4168-1710 by December 5 for catering purposes.
Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (just opposite the peanut silos) will be opening their final exhibition for the year from 1:30pm to around 3:30pm this afternoon. 'It's All Here' is a solo exhibition by accomplished Yarraman weaver, spinner, painter and printmaker Cherry Coultis. The exhibition will be officially opened by the former Member for Nanango and well known art lover Dorothy Pratt, and there'll be drinks, nibbles and lots of great socialising. Today's opening will also be an opportunity to inspect the Gallery's gift shop for special Christmas gifts - there's a great range available. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Note: After today's opening this exhibition will remain on display from 10:00am to 4:00pm weekdays and 10:00am to 2:00pm weekends and public holidays (except for Christmas Day) until Wednesday, January 6. Seafood Buffet - Murgon
Sakina's Seafood Buffet - which is held on the 2nd Saturday of each month - will be running at the Saleyard Cafe on Gayndah Road at Murgon at 6:30pm this evening. This BYO buffet offers everything from fresh oysters to Moreton Bay bugs, crabs, prawns and cooked seafoods, but bookings are essential if you want to be sure of a seat: (07) 4168-5701.
Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets run on the 2nd Saturday of each month and stall fees are just $5. More details? Phone Mellissa on (07) 4164-1249.
Country Fishing Classic - Lake Boondooma
The second round of the Austackle Bluefin Country Fishing Classic will be held at Lake Boondooma today and tomorrow. This Grand Final of this six-round competition will be held at Bjelke-Petersen Dam near Murgon on May 7-8, 2016.
