Murgon Christmas Fair
The Murgon Business and Development Association will be staging Murgon's 22nd Annual Christmas Fair from 5:30pm until around 9:30pm this afternoon and evening in Lamb Street, Murgon. Highlights of this year's Christmas Fair include live entertainment from street performers, stage and roving entertainers; lots of inexpensive children's rides; heaps of food stalls and around $5,000 in prizes and giveaways to be won by lucky shoppers who've been patronising Murgon's Christmas Fair stores. As usual, Santa Claus will be making an appearance to delight the youngsters and pose for photographs with them between 6:00pm and 8:15pm, and the event will be professionally emceed too. Nanango Christmas Festival
The Nanango Christmas Festival will be held at the Nanango Blue Light Hall in George Street, Nanango from 5:00pm to 8:00pm this evening. This year's Festival will offer a jumping castle, disco, games and more for children, and Santa will be arriving at 7:00pm to hand out ice blocks and lollies and pose for photo opportunities. Last Day Of School For 2015
Today is the last day of school for 2015 for those children still attending (senior high school students get away a bit earlier than juniors to study for their important end-of-year exams). Reduced speed limits around schools will still apply today, but from tomorrow until near the end of January you'll be able to enjoy a 10 kph speed boost as you pass school grounds. State schools will resume for 2016 on Wednesday, January 27.
Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Country Music Night - Nanango
An informal Country Music Night will be held at the Uniting Church Hall in Gipps Street, Nanango at 7:30pm tonight. The get-together is open to both spectators and performers, and the $2 entry fee includes supper. Everyone is welcome!
Friday Morning Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be running bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning (eyes down at 10:30am). There'll be four jackpots on offer, along with book games and raffles, and proceeds will go to help people with an intellectual disability. Everyone is welcome. More details? Coverty Creek Social Club Meeting
The Coverty Creek Community Development and Social Club will be holding its regular Friday night social gathering at the Red Shed at 198 Coverty Road, Coverty from 5:00pm until around 10:00pm tonight. Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango
The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:30pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). Mr Q - Murgon
Popular South Burnett rock group Mr Q will be performing evergreen rock covers at the Murgon Services Club in Lamb Street, Murgon from 7:00pm until late tonight. Jackpot Karaoke - Wondai
A Jackpot Karaoke Night with popular South Burnett entertainers Love2Sing will be held at the Warana Hotel in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:00pm until late tonight. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
