South Burnett and Cherbourg On Show
South Burnett And Cherbourg On Show will be running all across the South Burnett and Cherbourg from Friday, October 4 to Monday, October 7. More than 40 different events are being held throughout the long weekend. Many are free, many others are heavily subsidised, and all of them are a lot of fun. They cover everything from art exhibitions to tours, wining and dining to family fun days, and sporting competitions through to openings and reunions. Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm this evening. Tonight's show is the 19th annual South Burnett Art Competition, and it will feature works submitted by South Burnett artists keen to win the large range of prizes on offer. Tonight's exhibtion will also officially lunch the South Burnett And Cherbourg On Show long weekend, and both will be officially opened by SBRC Mayor Wayne Kratzmann at around 7:00pm. Two other highlights of tonight's opening will be the launch of the Wondai Hotel's new "Yolo" wine label; and live entertainment by the South Burnett's favourite indigenous country-rock band Muddy Flats. As usual, the opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from the new Wondai Hotel & Cellars (which officially opens tomorrow) plus terrific socialising. Blue Light Skating - Nanango
- The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding their regular first Friday of the month U13s Skating Night at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango from 6:00pm to 9:00pm tonight. - The Endeavour Foundation will be holding bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning. There'll be four jackpots on offer, as well as a raffle. Everyone is welcome.
Hivesville QCWA Meeting

Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular weekly Social Competition Night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. This is a 3-a-side event with a $5 playing fee, and a fully licensed bar will be operating along with raffles. New players are always very welcome, and the club caters for all skill levels from novice to expert. Country Music Practice Night - Nanango

Friday Night Social Bowls - Murgon
- The Murgon Bowls Club in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding Friday Night Social Bowls from 6:00pm onwards this evening (bar opens at 4:00m; games start at 6:30pm). The $15 green fee includes all games and a great BBQ dinner, and it's open to bowlers and non-bowlers alike - just wear soft-soled shoes or go barefoot. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
