South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Kingaroy State High School Annual Art Exhibition
The 2013 Kingaroy State High School Student Art Exhibition will be opening at the Kingaroy Art Gallery in Haly Street at 7:00pm this evening. The exhibition features works by 140 students in a wide range of media including etchings, paintings, ceramics, drawings and prints, and always draws a big crowd. There'll also be catering provided by KSHS hospitality students, along with wines from a South Burnett winery. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Kingaroy QCWA Meeting
The Kingaroy branch of the QCWA will be holding its regular second Friday of the month meeting at the Kingaroy QCWA Rooms in Kingaroy Street (just next to the RSL) at 10:00am this morning. New members are always welcome! More details? Phone Hazel on (07) 4162-1194.
Halloween Blue Light Disco - Nanango
The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding their regular second Friday of the month U18s Blue Light Disco at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango from 6:00pm to 9:00pm tonight. Because it's October, tonight's Blue Light will be a special Halloween Party and young people are encouraged to dress up in their spookiest fancy dress. A canteen will be operating too. Nanango Art Society Art Fest
The Nanango Art Society are holding their first Art Fest daily through until Sunday, October 13. The Art Fest features 3 major art competitions (a mural, a sculpture and an art competition) and there'll also be daily workshop, art and sculpture activities and demonstrations. Karaoke Night - Wondai
The South Burnett Lively 50s & 60s Singles Social Group will be attending a Karaoke Night at the Warana Hotel at 42 Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:30pm until late this evening. Official Opening Of Railway Park, Proston
The South Burnett Regional Council will be officially opening "Railway Park" (formerly known as Proston Park) in Rodney Street, Proston at 11:00am this morning, followed by a free sausage sizzle lunch. All interested people are very welcome to attend, but for catering purposes an RSVP to Robin on (0427) 178-200 by October 7 would be greatly appreciated.

The Wondai & District Garden Club will be holding their regular second Friday of the month meeting at the Wondai Country Club on the Bunya Highway, Wondai at 9:30am this morning, kicking off with a morning tea. Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Friday Night Darts - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular weekly Social Competition Night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. This is a 3-a-side event with a $5 playing fee, and a fully licensed bar will be operating along with raffles. New players are always very welcome, and the club caters for all skill levels from novice to expert. Country Music Practice Night - Nanango
The Nanango Country Music Friends will be holding their weekly practice night at the Wesleyan Church in Cairns Street, Nanango at 6:30pm this evening. The group is open to people of all skill levels who enjoy playing country music, and you can find out more details by phoning (07) 4163-2469.
Friday Night Social Bowls - Murgon
The Murgon Bowls Club in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding Friday Night Social Bowls from 6:00pm onwards this evening (bar opens at 4:00m; games start at 6:30pm). The $15 green fee includes all games and a great BBQ dinner, and it's open to bowlers and non-bowlers alike - just wear soft-soled shoes or go barefoot. Endeavour Foundation Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be holding bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning. There'll be four jackpots on offer, as well as a raffle. Everyone is welcome.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
