Motors In Motion Festival - Kingaroy
The second annual Motors In Motion Festival will be held at the Kingaroy Airport on the Goodger Road south of Kingaroy from 9:00am this morning through until around 4:00pm this afternoon. The Festival celebrates motors of all types - anything from vintage cars, motorcycles and farm machinery through to muscle hotrods, ratrods and aeroplanes - and there'll be lots on display today for revheads and motoring enthusiasts to look at and (occasionally) even drool over. This year a Kiowa helicopter from the Oakey Army Aviation base will be paying a visit. There'll also be chainsaw carving, a mining heavy haulage simulator, displays of remote control model cars and aircraft, old-style peanut and corn threshing, a performance by the Kingaroy State High School Stage Band and much more. There'll also be food and drink stalls, amusement rides and face painting for children; joy flights; a motorbike gymkhana (at 2:30pm); an Art Exhibition; a fashion parade; a Ping Pong Ball Drop; and many other entertainments for the whole family. Psychic Fair - Nanango
Crikey! Here's something we didn't foresee! The South Burnett Spiritualist Church will be holding a Psychic Fair at the QCWA Hall in Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 3:00pm today. Psychic readers will be attending from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Nanango and you can get a reading for $20 or a bit of healing for a gold coin donation. Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular, getting-bigger-every-month Wondai Country Markets will be operating in Coronation Park in the Wondai CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. Today's markets will feature (amongst any other things) stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and the Wondai Kindergarten's BBQs firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts to early bargain hunters. Nanango RSL Pink Ribbon Girls Night In Breast Cancer Ball
A Pink Ribbon Girls Night In Breast Cancer Ball will be held at the Nanango RSL in Henry Street, Nanango from 6:00pm to around 10:00pm this evening to raise funds and awareness of breast cancer. Guests should come along in fine attire (add a touch of pink) for this evening gala ball, and tickets (at $50 per head) include a four-course dinner including crusty bread, a main meal, dessert, tea &/or brewed coffee and a pink-themed beverage plus a full evening of dancing, live music and entertainment, guest speakers, a lucky door prize, raffles, auctions, art, pampering, displays, local wines, a photo booth, art union, pink candy buffet and much, much more! Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
Maidenwell's historic Maidenwell Hotel will be holding another of their popular monthly Pig On A Spit evenings from 6:00pm until late tonight tonight (dinner is served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm). There'll be live entertainment and lots of cold beer, as well as more pork than you can possibly poke a stick at! Wondai Library 50th Birthday Celebrations
The Wondai Library at 78 Mackenzie Street, Wondai will be celebrating its 50th year of operations with a morning tea, cake-cutting ceremony and storytelling sessions in the courtyard between the library and the Wondai Heritge Centre from 9:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. Proston Halloween Party
Here's something to die for! A Proston Halloween Party will be held at the Proston Town Hall in Rodney Street, Proston from 6:00pm to 11:00pm this evening. The event has been organised by the Proston Show Society's Youth Sub-Committee and apart from a spooky Halloween Disco it will feature (amongst many other things) organised games throughout the night, a Haunted House to explore, a prize for the best costume of the night, a licensed bar and great party food. The Kingaroy-Memerambi RSL Sub-Branch will be holding their Annual Dinner at Kingaroy RSL's Tobruk Room in Markwell Street, Kingaroy at 6:00pm this evening. Saturday Cricket
The second round of the South Burnett's 2012-13 cricket season will be played at a variety of locations around the region today. In A-grade, Kingaroy RSL will play the Murgon Crusaders at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy while the Nanango Scorpions will play Wooroolin Warriors at the Nanango Sportsgrounds in Burnett Street, Nanango. And in B-grade, Murgon Magic will play Kumbia and the Murgon Diggers will play Kingaroy RSL at the Murgon Sportsgrounds; Wondai Wolves will play Barambah at the Wondai Sportsgrounds; and the Murgon Colts will play Wooroolin Warriors at the Murgon Showgrounds. Spectators and supporters are very welcome!
Saturday Golf - Blackbutt and Kingaroy
Two golf competitions will be held in the region today at Blackbutt and Kingaroy. At Blackbutt, the Blackbutt Golf Club in Bowman Road will be hosting the Tom Harper Memorial 4BBB Stableford, with a noon tee-off (info: (07) 4163-0180); and in Kingaroy, the Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway south-west of town will be holding a 4BBB Championship over 18 holes, as well as a Club stroke event (info: (07) 4162-1720).
2nd Annual Wide Bay Wurst Off - Wondai
Here's something different! The Karate Union of Australia will be presenting the 2nd annual World Wide Bay Wurst Off at the Wondai Town Hall in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 6:00pm until late this evening. As the name suggests, this will be an smart casual dress celebration of the joys of wurst, and the $20 admission includes canapes, wurst, light entertainment and access to a licensed bar. Guests can also get to try some South Burnett wursts and vote on a Peoples Choice winner - and there'll be several divisions judged on the evening by some guest judges too. Yarraman Heritage Centre Open Day
The Yarraman Heritage Centre at 26 Millar Street in Yarraman will be holding an Open Day from 9:00am this morning through until around 2:00pm this afternoon. The event will allow visitors to inspect this wonderful historic facility and talk with knowledgable local historians about the unusual history of the Yarraman area. There'll also be live music from the evergreen Barkers Creek Bush Band (with a special guest artist!) and a whip-cracking competition (at 10:30am); displays of vintage machinery including threshers, seeders and drays; the official opening of the new Rosalie Historical Room by former Rosalie Shire Mayor Noel Strohfeld at 11:00am; a BBQ and market stalls.
