South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Cowboys & Indians Night - Kingaroy
The Commercial Hotel at the corner of Haly and Glendon Streets in Kingaroy will be holding a Cowboys & Indians Night from 8:00pm until late this evening with 4 deejays. DJdirex (aka Michael M., the South Burnett's most popular emcee) and DJ Lofty will be performing in the beer garden, while Donnie Blaze and Sam Franciso will be spinning the platters indoors and setting fire to the wagon train. Admission is 100% free and there'll be gifts for the first 100 people through the door, but there'll also be a lockout at 11:00pm - so don't be late. More details from the hotel on (07) 4162-1380.
Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Information Session for Wondai Adult Learn to Swim Program
An information session for the new Wondai Adult Learn to Swim Program will be held at the Wondai Swimming Pool at 101 Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 9:30am to 10:00am this morning. This new program teaches adults water confidence and how to swim and is being run by the South Burnett Regional Council. And if you'd like to dive right in, you should bring swimming togs, a towel and sun protection. The normal pool entry fee will be waived for the duration of the Information Session, and everyone is welcome to come along and find out what's involved. Kingaroy QCWA Meeting
The Kingaroy branch of the QCWA will be holding its regular second Friday of the month meeting at the Kingaroy QCWA Rooms in Kingaroy Street (just next to the RSL) at 10:00am this morning. New members are always welcome! More details? Phone Hazel on (07) 4162-1194.
Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) will be opening their annual Kingaroy State High School Student Art Exhibition at 7:00pm this evening. The exhibition will feature works by around 140 KSHS students in a wide range of media including etching, painting, ceramics, drawing, print-making, mixed media and digital layering accompanied by punch, savouries, tea, coffee and wine tastings from Captain's Paddock Vineyard. Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington will perform the official opening at 7:45pm and there'll be talks by several students as well. Admission is by gold coin donation and everyone is welcome. Wondai & District Garden Club Meeting
The Wondai & District Garden Club will be holding their monthly meeting at Diane and Brian Scully's home at 27 Bailey Streert, Wondai from 9:30am onwards this morning. Blue Light Disco - Nanango
After being out of action most of this year while much-needed building refurbishments were undertaken, Nanango's monthly Blue Light Disco will be making a welcome return to the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango between 5:00pm and 9:00pm this evening. A Junior Blue Light Disco will be held between 5:00pm and 6:30pm (all children attending this must be signed in by an adult) and a Senior Blue Light Disco will run from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Blue Light Discos are for young people aged 18 or less and are drug, alcohol and tobacco free. Admission to either disco is free and refreshments will be available for purchase on-site. Pre-Launch Party - Kingaroy
A Pre-Launch Party will be held in the Kingaroy RSL's Tobruk Room from 9:30pm until 2:00am this evening to promote the up-coming Launch Music Festival which will be held in Toowoomba on October 27th. Tonight's event will be hosted by DJ Johnny Mac, MC Kitch and Mr Short and entry is free if you get in before 10:30pm (otherwise a $5 cover charge applies). Art Exhibition Opening - Nanango
The Nanango Art Society will be opening their Annual Art Exhibition at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango at 6:00pm this evening. The exhibition will feature works created by members of the Art Society and finger food, wine and punch will be supplied. Karaoke Night - Proston
The South Burnett Lively 50s & 60s Singles Social Group will be holding a Karaoke Night at the Golden Spurs Hotel in Blake Street, Proston from 7:00pm until late this evening. South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann will be appearing at Kingaroy Shoppingworld from 10:00am to 1:00pm today so that residents can chat with him about any issues of concern they might have. Today's chat is part of a series that the Mayor has been holding around the region since early September.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 10 Kingaroy Street in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). 8 Ball Aitken - Yarraman
Zany country rock performer 8 Ball Aitken will be appearing at the Royal Hiotel in Yarraman from 7:30pm until late tonight. 8 Ball Aitken was last seen in the region at the 2010 Wine & Food In The Park Festival and has just returned from a tour of the USA and Canada.
