Queen's Birthday Public Holiday
- Today is the new Queen's Birthday Public Holiday - though since the Bligh Government first declared this, the incoming Newman Government has decided that next year it will be the Labour Day Public Holiday instead and the Queen's Birthday Holiday will remain where it was in June. The public holiday moved from June (or May, in the case of Labour Day) to October because of a desire by both Government and the business community to provide a more even spread of public holidays throughout the year. Most businesses and all Government offices in the South Burnett will either be closed today or operating on restricted hours.
