Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. Today's markets will feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Gallery's new "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The Wondai Kindergarten's BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts to early bargain hunters. Red Boot Ride - Murgon
The South Burnett's own version of the charity “Red Boot Ride” - to raise funds for Ronald McDonald Houses - will start in Murgon today. Motorcycle riders are invited to assemble at the BP Roadhouse on the Bunya Highway in Murgon just before noon. They will then head to the Hivesville Hotel for lunch, then onto Goomeri, Maidenwell and Kingaroy. Entry cost is $25. All motorcycle riders are welcome to take part!
Christmas In July Buffet - Wondai
Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Streetin Wondai will be holding a Christmas In July Buffet at 6:00pm sharp tonight. Tickets are $30 per head (BYO) and since these Christmas In July dinners are usually a sell-out - as well as a fantastic feed - bookings are essential if you want to be sure of a seat: (07) 4168-5744.
Kumbia Kindergarten Cent Auction - Kumbia
The Kumbia Kindergarten will be holding a Cent Auction at the Kumbia Hall Supper Room in Bell Street this afternoon. Doors will open at 12:30pm and the auction will get underway at 1:30pm sharp. There'll be great prizes on offer as well as a Lucky Door prize and raffles, and admission is just $5 (which includes a free sheet of tickets and a great afternoon tea). Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy

Saturday Soccer - Nanango & Kingaroy
The 14th round of the 2013 Evolution Solar South Burnett Football League will be held in Nanango and Kingaroy today - and with just four matches to play before this year's Grand Finals, the pressure on the region's local teams is getting higher every single week. In Nanango, the seemingly top-ranking home team will play second-ranked Gunners at the Nanango Sportsgrounds, with 2nd Division kicking off at 12:30pm; the Women's Division at 2:00pm and 1st Division at 3:15pm. And in Kingaroy, Wests will play rivals Barambah at Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street, with 2nd Division toeing the line at 2:00pm; the Women's Division hitting the park at 3:15pm and 1st Division putting the boot in at 5:00pm. Spectators and supporters are very welcome, and a canteen and BBQ will be operating at both venues too. Junior soccer will be played at the Kingaroy soccer fields in Oliver Bond Street in the morning.
Saturday Afternoon Rugby Union - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Thrashers rugby union team will be playing their seventh home game of the season at St Mary's Oval in John Street, Kingaroy (behind Kingaroy Hospital) at 1:30pm this afternoon. The Thrashers will be playing USQ Saints B Grade in Round 16 of the 2013 Downs Rugby competition, and spectators and supporters are very welcome! More details? Blackbutt Rugby League Centenary Celebration
The Blackbutt-Yarraman Timbertowners are celebrating their centenary this year, and tonight they'll be doing it in style with a special Centenary Dinner at the Blackbutt Hall in Coulson Street from 6:30pm until late. Guests will get to enjoy a great three-course dinner and live entertainment at this gala event, and tickets are just $20 per head. Everyone is welcome! More details? The dinner will be preceded by this week's rugby league games at the Blackbutt footy grounds in Railway Avenue, Blackbutt with the Cherbourg Hornets playing arch rivals Wondai Wolves at 1:00pm; and then the home team taking on the Nanango Stags at around 3:00pm. The Hornets v Wolves clash promises to be very interesting with the Hornets enjoying a big lead over the Wolves after the Wondai team forfeited a match against the front-runners a few weeks back; and the home team's clash against the Stags also looks like being interesting, with only a few points separating both but the Timbertowners highly motivated to bring in a win before tonight's Centenary shindig. Dinner With Senator Ian MacDonald - Kingaroy
The South Burnett branch of the LNP will be holding a dinner with Senator Ian MacDonald (pictured) and the LNP's Senate team (James McGrath, Matt Canavan and Dr Theresa Craig) at Kingaroy RSL's Tobruk Room in Short Street, Kingaroy at 6:00pm this evening (dinner starts at 6:30pm). The speakers will be introduced by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington and there'll be raffles too. Tickets to this smart attire event are $50 per single or $100 per couple and for catering purposes they need to be booked by July 19th. The South Burnett Home Based Business Group will be holding their second Expo for 2013 in Kingaroy RSL's Tobruk Room off Short Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to around 4:00pm today. FORFEIT: The South Burnett Saints AFL team will be playing their seventh home game of the season when they come up against Pittsworth at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy this afternoon. The teams will be playing Round 15 of this year's Darling Downs AFL competition, and spectators and supporters are very welcome! Update 24-Jul-13: The Saints won't be playing Pittsworth after all today - Pittsworth have forfeited the match. However junior games for the U8s, U10s and U12s will go ahead as normal.
South Burnett Zone 8 Gymkhana - Nanango
The South Burnett Zone 8 Gymkhana will be held at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango today and tomorrow. Spectators are very welcome.
