Pink Stumps Day - Kingaroy
South Burnett cricketers and everyone who'd like to help a worthy cause this wet Australia Day long weekend will be gathering at the Kingaroy Cricket Club in Youngman Street (just next to Beangrowers) from 8:30am onwards today to support the McGrath Foundation's Pink Stumps Day - an annual fundraiser that helps to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia and increase breast awareness in young Australian women. Teams who want to play need to pay a $60 nomination fee and have at least two women in their ranks. There'll also be a $5 penalty for those who don't dress in this year's theme (which is "Pretty In Pink"). And while competing teams battle it out on the pitch - or swim out onto the pitch, depending on how heavy the rain is - under cover at the clubhouse spectators are welcome to watch the fun, take part in raffles and prize draws all day; chow down on meat and gravy rolls and sandwiches (which will be on sale); and try to grab a bargain at a great charity auction which will be held towards the end of the day. The club is fully licensed and everyone is welcome! POSTPONED: Due to flooding and road closures, today's event has bveen postponed to next Sunday, February 3rd.
