2024 Wondai Country Running Festival

The second (and final) day of the weekend-long, family friendly Wondai Country Running Festival will be held in and around Wondai's CBD and along the South Burnett Rail Trail this morning. The festival will kick off early at 6:30am with ba full marathon, followed by a half maratrhon at 7:00am, a 10km run at 7:30am and the Bow Active 51m run at 7:45am, after which there';ll be prize-givings for the day's winners. More than 600 runners have registered to take part in this year's festival and you can get the complete program on on our website.
Hivesville Devonshire Teas
Hivesville's QCWA are celebrating their 101st birthday this year, and the branch will be opening the doors at their rooms in Main Street from 7:00am to noon this morning to offer visitors Devonshire Teas and boutique-style coffee plus plants, crafts and general bric-a-brac items - the perfect complement to the Hivesville Markets just across the road. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a delicious morning tea and/or browse for a bargain.
Hivesville Country Markets
The monthly Hivesville Country Markets will be held at Memorial Park (opposite the Hivesville Hotel in Main Street) from 7:00am to around noon this morning. These family-friendly markets are held on the 4th Sunday of every month and feature a variety of stalls including fresh local farm produce, plants, crafts and lots of food. New stallholders are very welcome, too!
Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Ranch Sorting & Station Cut Outs - Proston
the second ()and final) day of a Ranch Sorting & Station Cut Out weekend will be held at the Proston Showgrounds on the Proston-Boondooma Road west of town today. Today's action will focus on Junior Ranch Sorting (for U12s), followed by Novice and Open Ranch Sorting. Fees to take part are $15 per person and free powered campsites with water are available if you want to stay overnight. A canteen will also be running through to Sunday lunch. More details? Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy
Sunday afternoon Texas Hold'Em poker games will be played at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy today. Registrations start at 2:00pm and play begins at 2:30pm. All games are free to play and there are prizes for first, second and third. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Printmaking Workshop - Kingaroy
As part of this year's Queensland Winter Craft Festival, the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street will be running a Printmaking Workshop from 10:00am to 4:00pm today in the 1913 Council Chambers behind the Gallery. The workshop will be led by print maker Michelle Black and all tools and materials will be supplied. The course fee is $50 and the course will accept a maximum of 10 participants. More details? Shave For A Cure - Proston
Proston identity Nicole will be shaving her head at the Proston Golf Club on the Proston-Boondooma Road from 2:00pm this afternoon to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. In addition to the shave there'll also be a Pink Fashion Parade (wear your best pink outfit!), a sausage sizzle and a round of golf for keen golfers. The club's bar will also be open and everyone is welcome!
Sunday Roast Lunch - Wondai
Dimities Cottage in Haly Street, Wondai (opposite the Wondai Regional Art Gallery) will be hosting a $20 per head BYO Sunday roast lunch from 12:00 noon today featuring roast pork and vegetables (ie roast potatoes, roast pumpkin, cauliflower in cheese sauce, carrots and peas) with apple sauce and gravy followed by apple crumnble and custard, tea and coffee and - yes! - no washing up afterwards. However, bookings are essential so Chef Graham can properly plan the catering (important since it's Wondai Country Running Festival time). Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon.
