South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community


South Burnett Community Orchestra Concert - Kingaroy

The South Burnett Community Orchestra will be holding the first of its two mid-year concerts at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre (KPAC) in Markwell Street, Kingaroy tonight. Doors open at 6:00pm and the concert will start at 6:30pm. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for children and tickets can be booked online or purchased at the door. Tonight's "Music Is Life" event is being held in memory of SBCO violinist Sonya Pearson who tragically died in a traffic crash in March this year, and the concert will be supported by a big multi-draw raffle offering great prizes. All ticket and raffle proceeds raised tonight will go to support the LifeFlight Foundation, and JC Catering will have meal boxes available for sale if you get hungry. Note: If you can't make it tonight, a second concert will be held in Nanango tomorrow.
Kingaroy Friendship Markets
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around 12:00pm today. The markets are run by the Kingaroy Show Society and feature a range of arts, crafts, food stalls, fruit and garden stalls, plus unusual bric-a-brac. New stallholders are always very welcome.
Nanango Men's Shed
The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango will be open from 8:30am to around 12:30pm today for its regular Saturday get-together. South Burnett Sub-Chamber Awards Dinner - Wondai
The South Burnett Sub-Chamber and the Wondai Show Society will be jointly hosting the annual smart casual South Burnett Sub Chamber Awards Dinner for the South Burnett's Showgirls, Rural Ambassadors and Dark Rich Fruit Cake competition winners the Wondai RSL at 87 Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 5:30pm tonight (for 6:00pm dining). The winners of all three categories will be going on to represent the South Burnett at this year's EKKA - a tradition that stretches back more than a century - and tickets are $30 per head. Moore Hall Markets
The monthly Moore Markets will be held outside the Moore Soldiers Memorial Hall off the D'Aguilar Highway in Moore from 7:00am to around 12:00 noon today. The markets are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month and feature hand painted china; hand made jewellery; hand crafted dolls; quilts; biscuit tin banjos; jade; wooden toys; delightful handmade bags; plants; bric-a-brac; antiques and collectables; tea cosies; baby clothes; tea towels; candles; soaps; cakes; jams and pickles, and more. There's also great brekkies available inside the Hall, and everyone is welcome!
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their building at 5-23 Rodney Street, Proston from 9:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The Men's Shed is open every day (except Sundays) and new members are always very welcome! More details? Phone the Men's Shed on 0477-235-429
Proston Khanacross
The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding the first day of their weekend-long Proston Khanacross at their race track today (the club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston at 757 Proston-Boondooma Road). Racing will commence at 10:00am this morning and wrap up towards nightfall, when there'll also be some spectacular burnouts. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings from all over Queensland and NSW and spectators are very welcome. There'll also be a BBQ and soft drinks stand running throughout the event, as well as a hearty breakfast supplied by the Proston Lions club available early on Sunday morning. Tate Cole - Linville
Entertainer Tate Cole will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm to around 8:00pm tonight. The hotel's kitchen will also be open from 11:00am for lunch, dinner and snacks and there's free camping across the road or paid rooms at the hotel if you want to stay overnight. Everyone is welcome. Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets are held on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Saturday each month and they feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls. Yarraman Men's Shed

Proston Community Markets
The monthly Proston Community Markets - organised by the Proston Show Society and held on the 3rd Saturday of each month - will be running outside the QCWA Rooms at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston from 8:00am to around noon this morning. Stalls feature everything from craftwork to baked goods and bric-a-brac are are always fun to browse. There'll also be a great BBQ breakfast and Devonshire morning teas available, as well as a large fruit and veggie tray raffle. Training & Working Bee - Benarkin
Sled Dog Racing Queensland will be holding a training day and working bee in the Benarkin State Forest off the D'Aguilar Highway in Benarkin from 10:00am to 1:00pm this morning in preparation for their up-coming Timber Towns Trail Races. The club's tracks are located down Forestry Road near the Forestry Shed, and new members are always welcome. Note: The same activities will run tomorrow as well.
Street Feast - Nanango
Street Feast will be operating at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango from 4:00pm until late this evening as part of its current tour of regional Queensland. Street Feast offers food trucks, dessert stalls, boutique retail stores and live music seldom (or never) seen in the South Burnett, and the $2 per person admission includes the chance to win a $100 Street Feast Food & Retail voucher.
Saturday Night Bingo - Kilkivan
Bingo games will be played at the Kilkivan Bowls Club in Crescent Street, Kilkivan from 5:00pm tonight (eyes down at 6:00pm). There'll be 10 games on offer with great prizes - including a $650 jackpot - and play books are just $10 each. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase, and there'll be great raffle prizes to win as well. Tonight's games are a fundraiser for the Rise & Shine Aging-In-Place project and everyone is welcome!

The South Burnett PCYC at 40 Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding a free Byte Night of fun and games for 12 to 18-year-olds between 6:00pm and 9:00pm this evening. Women's Firearms Safety Course - Kingaroy
Hen Pen will be running a Women's Firearms Safety Course at the South Burnett Pistol Club at the corner of Harris and Redmans Roads in Kingaroy from 8:00am this morning. The aims of the course are to help prevent accidents, promote responsible firearms ownership to ensure a safer environment for everyone, and provide an introduction to popular firearms sports like stationary target clay shooting and hunting. Play With Colour - Kingaroy
As part of this year's Queensland Winter Craft Festival, the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery will be running a Play With Colour course with artist Diana Bolton in the 1913 Council Chambers behind the Gallery from 9:30am today. Students will be supplied with all the material they need to create a painted silk scarf and will receive instruction on the use of colours as well. Saturday Rugby League - Wondai
The local rugby league competition will be played at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway at Wondai today, with U6s to U12s matches running from 8:00am, followed by an U14s match between Chinchilla and Murgon at 12:00 noon. At 1:20pm, a South Burnett U43kg side will play against a mixed team, followed by another U14s clash between Cherbourg and Wondai at 2:10pm, and then a final U14s game between Kingaroy and Nanango at 3:15pm. Following this, the first A-grade match of the day between Wondai's Wolves and Nanango's Stags will take to the field at 4:15pm, followed by a second A-grade clash between the Murgon Mustangs and Cherbourg Hornets at 6:00pm. A canteen and bar will be running in the grounds and spectators and supporters are very welcome!
Dean Perrett & Jeff Brown - Kumbia
