The cyclists who took part in the recent Weekend At Wondai event spent about $55,000 in the South Burnett, a survey of participants has shown.
The results of the Bicycle Queensland survey were presented to an executive meeting of the South Burnett Rail Trail Users Association (SBRTUA) on Monday night in Wooroolin.
The three-day event over the Anzac Day weekend was organised by the SBRTUA in conjunction with Bicycle Queensland (BQ).
The BQ survey showed the average spend per visitor (above ticket cost) was $320.
A total of 98 per cent of participants were satisfied with the event, while 88 per cent would like to revisit the area.
SBRTUA president Michelle Hansen said the event had brought a lot of economic benefits to the region.
Although free camping was offered at the Wondai Sportsground, a quarter of the participants had opted to pay for their own accommodation in local venues.
Secretary Jason Wyeth said all the comments over the weekend had been very positive.
“Everyone had a great time and everyone was safe, which is important,” he said.
“They commented that the volunteers were friendly and helpful and the South Burnett countryside looked brilliant.”
