Nanango could get its own McDonalds outlet if a Development Application submitted to the South Burnett Regional Council gets final approval.

A Material Change Of Use application was lodged on behalf of McDonalds Australia Pty Ltd on July 28 for a food and drink outlet located at 8 Henry Street, Nanango.

The 2062sq m site is located beside the South Burnett Aquatic Centre (Nanango pool) on the D’Aguilar Highway.

Two houses currently occupy the area.

The proposal has been referred to the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA) which has questioned access, especially the potential for queueing on to the highway.

SBRC has also queried how the applicant intends to address the risk of a project in an identified flood hazard area.

The development is opposite the proposed 24-hour truckstop project which was rejected by the SBRC at its July meeting at the direction of SARA.

This refusal is now subject to an appeal in the Planning and Environment Court.
