Western Downs Regional Council hopes developers will be interested in an opportunity to create short-term accommodation at Russell Park, on the Bunya Mountains.
Council has invited expressions of interest for the project, which would be located on about 2.37ha.
Russell Park was gifted to the local council in 1927 by the Russell Family for public recreation.
The WDRC is seeking ideas for “high-end, short-term” accommodation on a small area which would complement existing tourism ventures on the mountains.
“The Bunya Mountains are one of Queensland’s most remarkable tourism destinations, offering a rare combination of ancient rainforest, iconic bunya pine forests, rich Aboriginal cultural heritage and breathtaking natural landscapes,” Cr Megan James said.
“We’re seeking an accommodation partner that shares our commitment to environmental stewardship and cultural respect while delivering an exceptional visitor experience that complements the unique character of the Bunya Mountains.”
