The Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary’s recent Balls & Beanies Golf Day has raised at least $6000 to put towards the purchase of new equipment for Kingaroy Hospital.
“This is a fantastic result for our inaugural event, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed to its success,” a spokesperson said.
The funds will go towards the purchase of a paediatric colonoscope.
Medical staff have told the Auxiliary this equipment would provide significant benefits for both paediatric patients and adults with complex bowel conditions, including cases where existing equipment may not allow a complete examination.
A paediatric colonoscope is a valuable dual-purpose asset for a rural hospital. Its slimmer, more flexible design will improve the success of diagnostic procedures while reducing the need for patients to travel to larger centres, such as Toowoomba. This means better access to care, improved patient outcomes and more efficient use of valuable rural health resources.
