The main grid transformer, weighing almost 180 tonnes, will be delivered to the Wambo Wind Farm construction site next week.
This is a major step forward for the project, which is being developed south-west of Kingaroy.
The transformer will be transported slowly from the Port of Brisbane to site on April 29, subject to weather and approvals.
It will travel via Dalby, accompanied by pilot vehicles and police escorts.
The convoy will then travel along Dalby-Jandowae Road into Hickeys Road, left into Jandowae East Road, right into Kingaroy-Jandowae Road, Niagara Road into Woollets Road, then right into Diamondy Road.
The Wambo Wind Farm is being built in two stages, and will eventually consist of 83 wind turbines and generate more than 500MW of power.

I’ve worked on hydro projects and can say the reliability and economics of this look sketchy to say the least. All claims are unrealistic “best case” ones, like output. Wind doesn’t blow at “best case” levels 24/7, energy demands are always there. These billion dollar delusions will be a financial burden for taxpayers, not only those taken in by green activists and scaremongers.
