Fire crews were battling a large grass fire burning near Coverty Road at Coverty on Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the blaze about 1:30pm.
A QFD spokesperson said that at 4:15pm, 13 crews were at the scene with reports that the fire was burning close to caravans.
Both rural and urban crews were in attendance.
They had begun backburning in a bid to strengthen containment lines.
The spokesperson said fire crews had reported that the north-eastern and western sides of the fire were contained, and they were working to contain the other edges.
UPDATE 7:30pm: The fire ground will be patrolled over night.
UPDATE Monday, 6:00pm: Fire crews are patrolling the area, and an Ergon Energy crew has dealt with a downed powerline.

[UPDATED]

Thanks very much for the update. Hopefully, we can sleep better tonight. We are only a couple of hundred metres from the fire. Kathy J.
I had to do a 000 call about 10.30pm when it flared up on the road edge and caught the powerpole on fire.
