Former Manyung farmer and businessman Ian Campbell, 56, and his daughter Hannah, 23, have been confirmed as the victims of Monday’s light aircraft crash south of Brisbane.
The Beechcraft Bonanza took off from Archerfield Airport just before 11:00am but crashed seven minutes later on a property on Musch Road at Stockleigh, sparking a large grass fire.
Mr Campbell and his wife Jane founded Barambah Organics almost 30 years ago, a dairy company based initially around the couple’s Spring Creek farm at Manyung, near Murgon.
The fourth-generation family farm gained organic status in 1999 and the couple began producing organic milk, yoghurt and cheese soon afterwards.
Their award-winning products led to a rapid expansion of the brand and the Barambah Organics business.
In 2020, the couple sold all but a minority stake but remained very active in farming, with interests in properties across Queensland and NSW.
The same year, they launched Mañana Pastoral, raising grass-fed lamb and beef on properties near Goondiwindi and St George.
